Worst professor I had at WPI. He speaks very slow and is hard to understand. Lectures have no context. The course is supposed to be broad but he focuses and bases his lectures/exams on his research/papers. There is no TA so the only person you can get help from is the professor but if you talk to fast he doesn't understand.

He is one of the WORST professors I've had. He's way too old to still be teaching. His lectures are slow and boring and his directions for the project are very unclear and confusing. The textbook is even worse than he is because it skips over so many important steps needed to understand. The assigned work an exams are graded very easily however.

Lectures mostly consist of him reading straight from his notes without explaining anything. He doesn't understand questions and will answer something completely different from what was asked. Only reference materials are his own (hard to understand) published papers. Grade was based on three take-home exams, two of which were due in the same week.

One of the worst professors I've had. Lectures did not cover exam material until a 'review' lecture right before the exam. Very hard to understand what he said. Heavy Russian accent. His 'examples' skip nearly every step and take 20 minutes of math and research to prove he did them correctly. Avoid him if you can. Learned very little.

Analytical methods should be a broad topic. He made it extremely narrow and I honestly don't know what I "learned" from this class other than how to grab information off technical papers. Avoid.

Comment:
Very nice person, but lectures are way above undergrad level. 90% of lectures are theory and deriving formulas. HW and test problems are much more practical, like advanced ES2503/basic DiffEq type problems. Thank god for the wonderful TA because I don't think I would have passed the class otherwise. 3 exams total, 1 project, HW due every other week

One piece of advice: don't rely on the solution manual. you won't learn dynamics from the solutions. the professor is willing to help you. he always listen to us.

I don't understand why ppl rate this professor so low! His class is very useful. If you get an A in this class just because you have the solution manual, then you will fail to learn dynamics. His class examples are pretty good, you have to read the book first in order to understand his lectures. the pace is fast. however, you won't regret the class

This guy is way to smart to be teaching undergraduates. You need to teach yourself a lot to understand his in class examples. He will try to explain things to you the simplest way he can, but there is a bit of a language barrier. He really does care about his students. If you approach him about something he will do his best to help out.

If you want to learn about dynamics, do not take him. He uses examples from the book to lecture and is horrible at explaining things. You will need to exclusively learn from the book. All exams are open book, open notes with problems from the book

Good teacher if you want an easy grade, but you will not learn too much. All homework and exams are taken from the textbook. Very difficult to understand in class and generally only teaches from examples already outlined in the textbook. Be prepared to learn from the book.

If you wanna learn, DONT take himThis guy can not teach to save his life, very unclear in teaching something as simple as stress analysis, open book and open note tests? AND test questions straight from book? you have gotta be kidding me. So get this, last exam of the term, TA catches half of the class using solution manual to EVERY single problem.

Avoid like ... well Avoid at all costs. He is unclear, thinks the students are idiots, and when told that he did not teach something he will pull out a notebook from several years ago and say, here it is, after not finding it in the book he is using. Impossible Tests. No respect for the student.
