I can't even tell you what this class is about, much less what I learned in it. She goes off on random tangents that take up 45 minutes that are completely irrelevant to what she started talking about. There is a midterm, a final, and a paper that consist of the majority of your grade. These are hard but do-able. Attendance isn't mandatory.

Ivory Ming is an unusual prof. She assigns 7 open ended papers for the semester then grades them with arbitrary reason. She never makes her expectation for the papers clear. I guess she thinks not giving guidlines for a paper is a way to learn creatively. If only she wasn't such a hard grader it would be cool. Why Ivory? WHY?

The woman clearly knows what's up in her respective fields but she's very bad at sharing her knowledge. She prefers to run her classes like a Socratic seminar, which is fine, but she's not very good at running them. There was no semblance of planning or even control over the direction of the class. The assignments were irrelevant or without reason.

A subpar teacher and a subpar class. Be prepared to talk about the "international system" a lot. Ivory is also confusing and does not follow any sort of lesson plan. I would not recommend this class.

Horrible, unclear, constantly changing her mind. Didnt know difference b/t milli and microgram. Test questions are ambiguous and difficult to answer. Stuff on tests not covered in class and answers seem to be based on HER opinion. Very boring, confusing, unorganized. AVOID!!!!

Dr. Ivory is an extremely intelligent lady and she answers every student's questions as best she can (and in a very respectful manner). Maybe it's not the most exciting class -- but that doesn't justify some of the comments on here.
