This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. No doubt that Professor Bastian is a great professor. She definitely knows her material which is probably why she holds high standards for everything related to the class. Don't take if you're looking for an easy class because she will take a dump on your writing.

Take this as your foundations. It is a challenge, but you won't regret it. This is what you should be learning at a liberal arts college. You will also perfect your writing. Prof Bastian is definitely the toughest professor I've had so far, but she is also probably the best. She is a tough grader, and she will not hesitate to challenge anything you say in class, but it really makes you think and ultimately learn. I am a much better student for having taken her class and I highly recommend it to everyone

Fantastic teacher! She made me an anthro major and I look forward to taking more of her classes. She is a tough grader, especially on essays, but it is all worth the work. You must always attend class because she springs pop quizzes often. Occasionally she will let us outside to do mini 'fieldwork' during classroom time! Always a nice surprise.

Professor Bastian is a wonderful teacher. She used to be an editor, so she's a bit tough when grading papers. All of the stress she induces is well worth it, though - you really walk away from her class feeling like you learned something significant & worthwhile.

she is an amazing professor! extremely bright. she knows what she is talking about. she is very difficult and makes you work hard. if you do your work, then you will do fine in her class. hard grader! she made me an anthro minor. dont be afraid to have her. i had a great time in her class!

Bastian is an amazing professor! I had her as a freshman and she helped me so much. She challenges you right off the bat but at the end of her class, you will thank her for toughness. She is a very hard grader. there were more red ink than black on my papers. She makes you work hard but at the end, you feel a great sense of accomplishment.

great teacher. she challenges you right off the bat but is very willing to help. hard grader, but if you put work into your papers and such, she'll reward you for it. definitely a good teacher, and she makes the class interesting most of the time. one of my favorite classes in my first semester of college
