Worst professor I have encountered to date at Trent. Banal discussion of topics during lectures, ineffective, obviously did not effectively read what was submitted to her (based on brief notations), pretentious and contemptuous of her students. Best to take a similar course at another university.

Professor Howes is such a nice lady! Really clear and straightforward lectures and she also has a good sense of humour. She's always willing to help - I went to her office hours and she always helped solve whatever problem I had! So nice!

Moira was an uninteresting unmotivated professor. Her lectures were all over the place and her expectations were the same. Her assignments were not fair in their weighting, and her marking was unreasonably harsh with no feedback on what her expectations were. Shes ok at lecturing and seems to know a lot about the topics,but there more laking here..

Moira was a fantastic professor and made a fairly dry subject interesting. Her lecture style is extremely easy to follow, and absorbing the information is no challenge. Her tests are difficult but fair, and if youve kept up with readings/homework assignments you'll do fine. I highly recommend any course she teaches, you won't regret it.

Clear content, and clear lecturer. I took philosophy of science with her, expecting a philosophical critique of scientific method... But instead I recieved a history of modern day science. I was disapointed in the material, but she's still a good teacher.

I had the pleasure of being in Moira's Practical Reasoning class last year. Moira has an excellent grasp of argumentation and a clear, concise and entertaining method of teaching. Moira comes across as a professional in the best sense; her lectures, which she approaches with the right blend of humour and passion, come across effortlessly.

Professor Howes is a babe who makes my heart throb - in the immortal words of Van Halen: got it bad, got it bad, got it bad...I'm hot for teacher. I dont know what the 8/19/05 reviewer has up her bottom!Prof.Howes was very clear has a very strong grasp of the concepts, which she amply demonstrated in class and(for those of us who just COULDNT GET IT)when you saw her in office.The material was hard-no doubt.Maybe you just didn't get it.Not everyone does or will-and if you did youd be the prof!

I am truly shocked by all previous comments for Ms. Howes. Although she is extremely and genuinely nice, and more than willing to spend extra time to help, she does not have an exceptionally profound grasp of the fundamental concepts (or perhaps she does not have the ability to clearly convey these concepts to great depths). Otherwise, she's great.

Although some evaluations of Prof. Howes may rely solely on the surface of the matters, the depth of her understanding is outstanding. Moira is very approachable and down to earth. Her diverse academic background allows for a proliferation of questions about ontology.

She reminds me of that "Yeah... we're going to need you to.." guy from Office Space. But he's awesome, so clearly so is she. She's super nice and remembers students and smiles at them and such. She's a good teacher!
