Dr. Brown is phenomenal - old, but very intelligent and with a great sense of humor. Lots of reading to do, but the books aren't difficult to understand (and Sparknotes can help lots). Grading is difficult to understand, but she seems fair.

I also took 240 from her. She's really nice and understanding, but the way she has the course set up makes it really hard to keep up. You'll be reading 50 pages a night MINIMUM for just one class. She's also really soft spoken, so it's kind of hard to hear her sometimes. You also need to be able to take good notes w/o a powerpoint slide to look at.

Muriel is awesome. I was worried that she'd be some stuffy old lady who takes everything seriously. She's funny, approachable, and very intelligent. She made morning classes suck less.

Yes, Dr. Brown is old, but I didnt think she was at all out of touch with the students. In fact, I found her dry sense of humor to be quite funny at times. The class was interesting, in depth, and I learned a ton. We did a lot of work, but the work taught me a lot, and I found it enjoyable. Plus she really knows her stuff. Definitely take her class

Her classes were facsinating, and she was a kind and interesting person. And-hey-old is good! You don't know everything when you're young. She's got loads of knowledge, but she still lets students teach her. That's very refreshing.

Although she is old, she is still a very kind and helpful teacher. I found that she was an easy grader, and I have always done well in her classes. Although she might not be as "upbeat" as other professors, she is still knowledgeable and her courses are interresting if you just open your ears and pay attention.

very hard to understand. she speaks very slowly and doesn't seem to be able to put a whole sentence together sometimes. TONS of reading!! 100 pages a week and we only ever discussed about 5-10!

I agree, she is EXTREMELY old. She grades strictly and makes you do a lot of reading. The class takes forever to pass -- it just goes on and on and on, not fun. As an English major, I realized I now hate poetry.
