I wasn't interested in Medieval Lit before this, and I'm still not a huge fan. However, Dr. Seaman opened my eyes a lot to the period and the literature we read was amazing (aside from the usual Chaucer). Beware silent "discussions" and blog posts (questions + comments). Dr. Seaman is super kind though, and will help you whenever she can!

Professor Seaman is both easy-going and approachable as well as highly organized in classes and dedicated to conveying the subject in the best possible manner to students. The reading load is not too big but this class definitely requires investing time and effort in the two essays which are graded rather strictly.

Professor Seaman is a delight! She's very interested in the things she teaches. The workload isn't terrible but make sure you do the reading and pay close attention to specific passages because they will be on the test! I plan on taking another class with her next semester.

She's absolutely hilarious and is a great presence in western civ discussion. She always has good points to say, and is good at driving discussion. That being said, she's a really harsh grader, she expects a lot from students and won't take slacking. Definitely substitute your claims in essays and don't say things you can't back up textually

She is a decent teacher and is great in a lecture style class but I sadly didn't love her teaching during West. Civ. discussions. She's very quick to shut down your thoughts & she wants your to blindly accept what she thinks is the right answer. She isn't really into you thinking, or at least expressing your thoughts, freely. But she's not bad.

Dr. Seaman is very smart & always wears adorable dresses. Papers aren't too tough, but prepare to read more than you've ever read in your life. Do-able, but not fun (subject matter is a drag). Grades tough toward the end - ALWAYS go see her to collaborate before a paper is due. A little intimidating outside of class, but cool nonetheless.

A brilliant teacher, and the closest you'll get to a genuinely cool professor. Cares deeply about her subject and her students, and is knowledgable, funny and friendly. Do the readings and you'll really enjoy classes. Also, everything's electronically handed in, which saves on printing-associated stress.

AMAZING! She tells fairy tales in class. If you like old english tales about magic, you'll love her. Shes tough though, so read the comments she writes on your papers! BTW everything is electonic from a bi weekly short paragraph to the long 3 page papers. Don't worry about the papers too much, she allows for creative thoughs :D

It took a little while, but I ended up liking Dr. Seaman a lot! :) She seems like she's trying to be "cool" with students at first, but then I think that's just her sense of humor. In any case, her class has a high workload, but as long as you do all the prompts and papers, you will succeed and do well! Her lectures are very interesting! take her!

What is there to say about Dr. Seaman...other than she is FREAKING AWESOME! The class itself was probably the worst class I have ever taken, not because of her but the subject matter itself. If i had taken it with anyone else i would have dropped it. She made it interesting and approachable. I love taking her classes. I'm def taking her again!

Myra Seaman is one of the best English Professors at CofC. She's got a sense of humor, she definately knows her material and she's willing to help anyone as long as you are willing to help yourself...plus she's hot! If you're an English major you HAVE to take her or you'll regret it. Actually...take her anyway she is sooooo awsome. I love her.

Dr. Seaman is ultimately the reason I thought about becoming an English major. Now I am and have taken many an English prof. and she is still one of my favorite professors in the department! She expects a lot from her students, and the material can sometimes be a drag, but she makes the class fun and interesting! English majors MUST take her!

I've had Dr. Seaman for 201 and Chaucer - fantastic. Papers require self motivated thought and analysis, but go to her office hours if you need help. She won't hand you an answer but is definitely willing to spend time with you on questions. Take her class! I can't imagine an English major without her course.

I LOVE Dr. Seaman! She is amazing! So much fun, and totally invested in her work. She is always emailing the class to remind us of upcoming assignments or readings, and is just an all around great professor. There are a few memorizations of Middle English, but they are definitely doable and nothing to worry about. 2 tests, final, 2 papers.
