Comment:
Don't take his class. Pollack thinks he is the best teacher in the world when in reality he makes disgusting jokes and fails to teach. Get ready to be glued to your textbook because he spends 4 seconds on OChem and expects you to know everything. That is kind of his style... 80% useless info, 20% him rushing through everything else.

Great lecturer, and was knowledgeable of the content. However on multiple occasions he has belittled me and harassed me, even saying "don't you think the reason why you finish lab last is because people are just better than you?". You see, that's not only hurtful, but confusing, since I hadn't earned lower than a 91 on any lab report or quiz.

He does tend to go faster on the more harder topics than he does the basic chapters at the beginning. The homework is very good and somewhat easier to understand, mostly if you understood the lecture or are using the textbook side by side with it. The exams are heavy and sometimes confusing so study in advance or visit him and ask questions

He makes extremely inappropriate jokes. Lecture is fine, but avoid him in lab. He yells for trivial things.

He is Ok in lecture, but you MUST read the textbook ahead of class. The homework reflects that. He has SEVERE anger issues, and if you screw up in lab, he will embarrass you in front of everyone. He is sadistic, and seems to get a kick out of doing this.

Definitely not as bad as people say. His jokes, although offensive to some, really help you understand what you're learning. Don't leave the classroom and you shouldn't have a problem w/ him. The class itself is challenging and he teaches the material to the best of his ability. Although not required, the textbook really helps fill in any "gaps".

Given the nature of Chemistry, Pollack does a fair job in teaching the material. There's a lot of content in his lectures so being absent for one day sets you back a lot unless you read the textbook. It isn't "mandatory" but it helps A LOT. Despite first impressions, he's a pretty easy person to talk to and he has an interesting sense of humor.

Not as bad as a lot of people say. He actually goes at a pace where you can learn the material & w relatable examples (though mostly inappropriate), and the homework is pretty straight forward from there. As long as you don't need to go to the bathroom, get a drink of water, or leave the class for any reason, he's fine.

Took this course to pass. Failed the first time around with Mitra. I want to say the course is set up for failure. You need an exam average of 40% to pass. Id recommended over Mitra, more thorough and actually uses Powerpoints. His jokes may be suggestive but I found myself to chuckle once or twice over the semester.

He teaches his class as a High School AP Chem teacher would: NO phone NO leaving for bathroom NO eating or drinking NO Sleeping. he is also very rigorous about attendance (.5 off your grade after 5 absences). he cares about student feedback and uses the clickers and can be very helpful if you use his office hours or stay after class for a question.

He can get annoying but he does care. He makes the class interesting at times with his lame jokes but He tends to go really fast with the hard stuff and slow on the easy stuff.
