It was nice that we got 2 test replacement opportunities and a weighted grade scale. However, he's not a very good professor. He gave us lots of info in class that wasn't on the test, and we would see things on the test that were only covered in drill (and only because our drill instructor was amazing). He doesn't respond to emails ever.

Allison is a very nice man, and a VERY poor teacher. A good teacher is one who can make the material easily understood. Allison goes in depth on irrelevant subjects that are difficult to separate from what will actually be on the tests, and instead of explaining fundamental ideas that help you understand, he just says "this is how chemistry is"

Good teacher! Gives too much information sometimes because he thinks its "cool," but very helpful and posts the lectures online after (although his handwriting is hard to decipher). Need to go to class for group problems that randomly are given. It's just a hard subject but he does a good job and everyone loves him! Need textbook for sure

Wonderful! Best teacher you could get for organic chemistry. His exams are very fair, and he tests on information that is not trying to trick you... He is kinda like a dad...very fun, always checking on students during "technology breaks" in class, and can tell he genuinely cares a lot about the people who take his course!

Dr. Allison is a great teacher! The material is , as expected, hard but he makes it bearable and almost fun. He gives MANY opportunities (replacing tests) and provides students with MORE than enough practice tests to feel confident. H e cares about the students and is ready to help! TAKE HIM!

Dr. Allison is a really good teacher in a killer subject. Organic is just hard, period. Dr. Allison does his best to be fair in grading (getting to replace 2 tests) and give lots of old tests and problems. A definite person to try and have

Dr. Allison is a really nice guy who obviously loves organic chemistry. The material is very hard and requires a lot of outside studying, but the way he curves and replaces tests got me a B in the class when I did not deserve it. Take him for organic.

Definitely one of the best professors I've had. As long as you put a decent amount of time into it, you can get the grade you want due to his fair grading policy (an 85 is an A and you have to oppurtunity to replace TWO tests grades). He teaches what one actually needs to know without stressing irrelevant details like the normal sections do.

Honors/Majors Organic I: Dr. Allison is one of the best professors here. Clearly explains material, in-class problems are completion points, tests are relatively easy, grading policy is lenient. Organic doesn't have to be scary, and you absolutely can't go wrong with Neil.

Dr. Allison is a great instructor and also a very nice person. I at times felt that he spent too much time on certain material (but maybe that's just me). An A is very doable as long as you attend class, take notes, and review the textbooks. He assigns textbook problems so do as many as you think is necessary for mastery.

Dr. Allison is a really good professor. He is highly recommended if you have to take Organic Chemistry at the U of A. The course is not easy but if you do the homework problems and go to drill you will be fine.

Quite possibly the best 'teacher' at the UofA. People rate bad because they have a tough time, but that must only be because they don't put in the time or effort. If you're willing to learn and need the class for anything like the MCAT then he is the best person to help you reach your goals.

Genuine personality, he enjoys teaching organic. If you take notes and do the 'suggested homework problems' you will do fine. Also he puts up old exams on blackboard and the tests are very similar to them

Dr. Allison is a great teacher, he isn't the easiest, but he's reasonable. I'd think twice if you're thinking about dropping honors organic after taking McIntosh because Allison is so much better than he is.

This is seriously the best professor on the U of A campus. The dude is brilliant and relates information so well. He went to Berkley in Cali for his undergrad so he is laid back. He will definitely prepare you in Organic especially for the MCAT. I wish all professors were like him

This is the guy you want for Organic Chemistry. His method is good for any learning style, he pares down the already extremely helpful book, and most of his test questions are strkingly similair to the homework. Do the homework as much as possible and you'll pass with flying colors. A seriously nice guy too.
