Neil is a really good teacher! He is very supportive and always ready to answer your questions. It was a little bit difficult to understand his speech during the first classes (I am an international student), but in few months everything was fine.

Neil is a very nice guy, but his lectures are boring and go off topic a lot. Currently relying on the textbook to get me through the course. Labs are easy, but he talks a lot and takes a minimum of 30 mins to explaining the lab, which is pretty self explanatory.

Neil is a good guy, but his lectures are awful, and boring. Labs are easy. The textbook led me through the course. If you are taking this course, prepare to learn the material yourself.

Neil was a very nice guy, however his lectures seemed to veer off topic quite frequently and they were difficult to understand, which is why majority of the class felt that attendance was not mandatory. You'll need to learn most of the material on your own to do well

Neil's a really great guy, extremely caring about his students and goes above and beyond for them. He reviewed with us up until about an hour before the final which helped loads. I found him tough to understand at times, sometimes going off on tangents or not being clear. Knows his stuff but struggles to clearly get the point across.

Lectures were very hard to understand. He will ask the class for answers and instead of letting someone answer, or explain how he got the answer, he just says "Well it's very simple isn't it." Well, it isn't very simple if you haven't taken a chem class before. I also found that when you asked questions, you got indirect and confusing answers.

Nice guy. Answers questions if you have them. Textbook wasn't really used, but if you decide you don't want to go to his lectures, he follows the textbook and gives you practice worksheets and exams so you know what to expect.

Not a terrible prof but could be better. Took forever to mark work. Writing was really messy so notes were sometimes difficult to copy. Towards the end of semester he rushed through a lot which was confusing. Barely used textbook. Labs were easy but he took forever to explain them.

Neil is a very nice guy and respects his students. But his lectures are hard to understand and don't relate to the problems that he asks you in his tests. He is very unclear when going through examples, when he gives you the luxury of going over one. He asks more diffult questions that any example in the text on his exams

Neil is a super kind person & is willing to answer your questions. But, his lectures can get really long and off track. He goes through his lectures and questions extremely & writes very fast on the board, making it hard for everyone to follow along while writing notes. It's sometimes hard to understand the material & the way he got the solutions.

Neil is a good teacher but his lectures become long, tedious and boring. He will go in depth and waste time on problems that can be solved in two minutes and once took 15 minutes to do one. Really nice guy, wants you to understand and do well and very helpful, just the lectures will put you to sleep. You learn to take selective notes.

He is a great teacher, and makes everything very clear during lectures. You have to go to the lectures and take notes to do well. Is very clear about what will be on tests, and provides worksheets regularly so you know if you're grasping concepts. He is very helpful to see outside of class, and very reasonable with grading.

Such a nice teacher. At first I couldnt understand him but after a while I did. I switched my preference from biology to chemistry while in this class. He is so lovely and the labs are so interesting. He is not an easy marker as he takes off marks for little details like sig figs but if you are going on to take more chem this is likely helpful.

I adore Neil. He's super helpful and goes out of his way to make sure you're doing well. He does tend to drone on in lectures though. All in all, he's an amazing, knowledgeable professor!
