Professor Noviello wrote his own textbook that makes the material super easy to learn compared to other texts. Very fair grader, open-notes exams, && allows you to replace your lowest exam with your lab score! Doesn't get any better. To add, Noviello is the easiest person to talk to, GREAT guy, eager to help you network with others. Got an A+ :D

Noviello can best be described as a crazy old man, but he owns it so it's kind of endearing. Lecture is sorta pointless, but the sections are helpful and the textbook is very well written.

A little quirky, but you get used to it. 4 quizzes (basically one every two weeks) of which one can be dropped and be replaced by your lab score and one final. He posts practice quizzes which are helpful and allows you to bring hand-written notes into quizzes/final. My biggest recommendation would be to utilize that to the fullest.

Comment:

This is the class that will become easy in time even if you are not good at math. Dr. Nick is hard to understand but once you get used to him this class gets very easy. Do the practice quizzes, attend class and go to review sessions. He does talk a lot and goes away from subject, but the quizzes and final are very straight forward.

I'm not a math person, but passed all three classes easily. He lets you use a BINDER OF CHEAT SHEETS. Not one cheat sheet, but a 1 INCH THICK BINDER!!! 4 Quizzes, 20 questions; drops the lowest one if your lab(homework) grade is higher. Final is 40 questions, focuses mainly on the last chapter with little bit of everything.

Please listen to me. He is a horrible professor! Always storytelling in lectures, and does not respond to emails. Quizzes have incorrect answers, total of 4 questions this quarter (which is a lot), and only fixed 2- and he will only fix if many students complain. I am literally an A student and did awful in his class. Please take someone else.

Noviello is a GREAT instructor. Just read the book and do the practice quizes. Lectures will help with clarification. Labs will teach you SPSS. Moderately easy class. You'll get an A, or at the very least a B+. Don't believe those horrible ratings.

Lectures are confusing because he stops the class either to tell a joke/story or is telling someone to turn off their electronic device. Everything he lectures on is in his book. Book is better at explaining the concepts than he does in lecture. All in all an ok class. Just take notes from the textbook and you'll be fine.

Just finished a full year with Dr. Nick. Started going to class at the beginning then stopped around Winter quarter. Lecture just makes things confusing. Just buy the book and do the practice quizzes. ITS A SELF TAUGHT CLASS. Very very easy A if you just do the practice problems.

Easy A if you can read a book. I got an A without going to class. He posts practice tests which are consistent with the test questions. Drops one grade and replaces with lab grade. Show up to lab for 35 pts. So basically easy A if you know what your doing.

Noviello sucks. He's really unclear in class and he tends to go off on tangents a lot about unrelated topics. I heard he's better than the other professor that teaches this class but he's still not great at all. I got through the class because of the TAs and the textbook. Lectures never made sense. Glad its almost done.

Dr. Nick is probably my favorite prof. ever. He loves what he does, and is very clear in class. He makes class so entertaining and is actually really funny. If you pay attention in class and do the practice quizzes, its an easy A. Also, be sure to learn the concepts, they are just as important as the equations.
