I was incredibly nervous taking 311 - I am not anywhere near fluent. And, amazingly, it didn't matter in this class. This was the first and only Spanish conversation class where I felt comfortable talking in front of the entire class. If he's still there, I highly recommend taking his class! He's very nice and it's an easy A/

Prof Virumbrales was an excellent professor..if you take conversation with him he only prepares you for what real life spanish is..he knows that when you go to a spanish-speaking country you're not going to speak the textbook spanish.& yes you're going to swear..so for those of you who can't brush it off ..seriously get a life and get over yourself

I was so nervous about taking 311 and when I first saw Pablo I was very intiminated. He turned out to be the sweetest man ever. He made me feel very comfortable. Most of the time class didn't feel like class. Sure he asked inappropriate questions but it helped the students practice Spanish from a different angle-Real-life conversations. Awesome!

Haha... ok so I loved Pablo. But I can totally see why some people can't stand him. Give him a break... he's an old man from Spain who likes to give people crap. If you have to take 311 take it with him. I had a blast. But he does play favorites so make sure and come to class!!!

THis teacher was the****. Funny guy, didn't really learn much though, but did get to practice my spanish conversational skills quite a lot in his class. If you have to take this class take it with him, you won't regret it.

Wow. All of you who think he's the best teacher you've ever had should get out of NIU and meet some real teachers. He swears in class (in English, not even in spanish), you don't learn anything in the class, and I agree with the other person who commented that he asks personal, uncalled for ?'s.

Had him as a grad student. Got a B in the class, and I deserved a D. If all you are after is an easy A, go for it. If you want to learn something about Spanish civilization, better to get a book and read on your own. Also, asks personal questions and cusses in class. Very unprofessional.

I took 3 classes with him; the first semester I was kinda shocked at his style, but by my last semester, I admit he is my fav in the foreign lang. dept. He is very easy, but you don't get a syllabus until the middle of the semester. Also, his grading is random (uhhh, you have a B), but he is nice!

Easy, yes. Effective, very. Loved the relaxed, casual atmosphere/pace of the class. Topics were current so it helped use the language in the here and now. Not your 'typical' professor, but that's the fun part!
