I took this class with the hope of loving another social science. It was not like that at all. She is very hard to get in contact, I emailed her twice she never responded. I went to her office twice to look at midterms, she rushed me out both times (during HER office hours) to go to other meetings. Doesn't seem to care about her students.

She puts too much emphasis on the history of anthropology. And the tests are hard, you definitely need to read the book in order to get high grade! Course materials are heavy. Not a good choice for having intro anthro with her.

She wasn't incredibly helpful. Lectures were heavy and vague. Cancelled class an uneccessary amount of times. If looking to take Anthro, look for a different prof.

Dr. Spurles gives a variety of grading options for intro anthro. This allows you to decide how much or how little work you want to do for the class. She is very sweet and approachable. I would recommend this class.

Patricia Kelly Spurles is the best professor I've had at Mount Allison. Whether she's teaching a rote theory class or current affairs in the Middle East, she makes her lectures incredibly engaging and fun. For the first time in my university career she's swayed which courses I chose, simply so I could have more classes with her.

Great teacher, easy course. She loves her students, you just have to at least pretend to enjoy what she's talking about and she will be really excited. Gives you multiple grading options. We practically made our own exam. If you need distribution TAKE HER COURSE!!

Most helpful prof I've had so far. Very friendly and gives you different grading options. Some people think she's a little crazy but I think she's just a nice lazy who is very passionate about what she does.

Was not there for most of the classes, got someone else to teach. Was hard to contact, slides went by too quickly to which at one point she asked "oh, is anyone actually following these?" AND one of the chapters on the exam was the one chapter.

Entertaining to say the least....spent her first lecture talking about her doctoral work, involving infant circumcision in Morocco...along with some graphic photos. Interested enough in her subject material, but then would go off on these random tangents periodically about...you guessed it...circumcision in Morocco. Tests are very very easy.

HER VOICE DRIVES ME CRAZY. I also feel that while she is very intelligent, the way she speaks is very "dizty" and thereofre it not only discredits what she says but also adds to the stereotype of women just being less intelligent.
