Patrick's great- I've taken him 2x. An excellent writer and very helpful. His classes do tend to drag, but the work is not hard and his marking is fair. He's very open to new ideas.

Comment:

Doesn't teach you how to write, just forces you to write more. Talks about everything but the subject, and is a difficult marker. If he doesn't like the same type of writing you like, you get bad marks. Use a "creative" technique purposely, and you will get marks off. Yet and established write will do the same, and he will hail it as brilliant.

I am a really strong writer, I have even had my work published. He does not mark approperatly. Wants poems to be an excat style, takes all others as "telling" "hackeyed"...ect Doesnt have an open mind which will imped your mark. Would Not suggest you take this class if you enjoy writing and value your GPA. Hard and unfair marker!!

Did NOT like his class at all. If you aren't artsy fartsy/ extremely strong writer who writes like him, you wont get a good mark. Im an A student and no matter what i did he would NEVER give me higher than 75%. Make sure your 1st assignment is good cause i think he holds a high 1st impression. Would NOT take him again. completely subjective!!!

He tends to talk about things that don't have any relevence to what we're supposed to learn.He does like to talk about how he used to be mennonite & that's what I heard for the first half of the course.The thing that really bugs me is his scribbling.I cannot for the life of me read what his comments say.It's frustrating. this class is a total waste of time. try and get a diffrent teacher if you can. i was so excited about taking this class, but i was very dissapointed. He talkes about everything but the subject at hand i did not learn anything about how to be a better writer and he hates comedic writing. Patrick holds an interesting class. A nice teacher, brilliant poet, and an awesome story teller. Good taste in music too (The Beatles and Bob Dylan). I'd recommend taking his class if you're actually passionate about writing. He's a fair marker and its not difficult to learn fom him if you can actually read the comments he makes on your work.

I took this class my very first semester ever. I found myself looking forward to coming to Partick's class and I was actually quite sad when it was over. He is very smart and knows his stuff. A very good instructor and highly cultured. Classes are participative and interesting. Recommended.

hot? I dunno bout that. Funny as hell though. great stories, goes off on tagents, hilarious. Who cares how he dresses or if he knows seinfeld!reletively easy class, great guy. everyone else must've been dimwitted. Take his class. 70% on the easy, better the other CRWE for sure.
