This man knows SO MUCH. Make sure you go to every class and take copious amounts of notes. Can't emphasize that enough. If you show up and take notes, you can get a good grade. Class was so interesting and he has this odd/dry sense of humor. I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in history!

If you keep up with the readings and listen to the lectures you are golden. He is a great teacher. His specialty is Hitler and WWII, so if you can take one of those classes do, he really knows his stuff. I would take it if I wasn't graduating soon and don't have room to take it.

I am in awe. This professor is top notch. He teaches "Holocaust," for God's sakes, which is so difficult & controversial. A master of the data & the scholarship, a guide to the event & its depictions in print & media. No question stumps him, he seems to adjust to the student's level in answering. Hooray! Above all, a mensch.

So Didn't get the grade I thought i should have gotten. Two papers are based on 2 books for outside reading a mid term and a final. Two papers and Mid Term were great, final was out of left field. Good person if you need to take a class take this one he is a good speaker.

Textbook use is almost required, but is never checked. Each chapter of the book is gone through in a single week, meanwhile he does not go over it explicitly, but covers some material in the book during his lectures. Class is generally not interactive, but quite simply a lecture. You will not pass if you don't do both class notes and homework

Took a class on Hitler and one on the Holocaust under him. One of my all time favorite professors. Tough, but fair, and caring, never having too little time to answer a student's questions. Did his best to give a fair, balanced, and objective study of his subjects, which is a blessing when you go to a school with so many radical profs.

I took this prof three times because he was just excellent. A thoroughly interesting teacher, with an understanding of the pressures that students are under. Compassionate and kind, interesting and involved, never too busy for a student's questions. Dr Bookbinder was that rarest of all things, a gentleman. Take his classes!
