Worse prof. Ive ever had! A snotty old man. Very passionate about what he teaches though. If u aren't an eng. major, don't take this! Extensive readings every week, surprise quizzes, extremely hard midterm & final on the tiniest details. Unclear on what he wants on papers; no outline to follow. Basically, it's his way or no way. Don't take him!!!

Seems like a nice old man at first, but is a VERY strict grader and isn't clear at all about what he expects. Quizzes on tiny details in long stories. Grades on papers are just a letter written on the page-no rubrics. Reading wasn't bad, but he will kick you out if you forget your book once. Has favorites and caters to them. Wouldn't recommend.

Seems nice at first, but he is very picky. Unless you do things his way exactly, even if its just a matter of opinion, he will discredit you. He is passionate, but his "my way or the highway" attitude really detracts from his teaching. The material itself is very interesting, but don?t expect to get a good grade in this class.

Definitely difficult. The stories are interesting but he is a very harsh grader. You need to know very minuscule details about each of the fairy tales. The class isn't as awful as some of the reviews but you HAVE to do the readings. I suggest taking notes on each story. He is quirky and is very knowledgeable on the topic

Tests are impossible. Failed both of them. Studied so hard for the last one because I knew I had to pull my grade up, still failed. ended up withdrawing. DO NOT TAKE HIM if you do not need this course!!

This class is horrible. He is not a good teacher 7 it was so boring to go to class everyday. You read a differeny fairy tale every night then come in & he tells the whole story over again.. I wanted to fall asleep every single class. Sometimes he will give surprise quizes & that;s awesome because it's always on the reading that you didn't understan

Extremely harsh grader. Seems like a nice old man but he doesn't seem to care when half of the class is failing. Isn't helpful when writing papers, and since there are only a few assignments in the semester, you need to do VERY well on them. I usually get straight A's, but not with him. If you can find another teacher to take, I would recommend so.

Very passionate about folklore. I learned a lot and enjoyed the class but in order to get a good grade you really have to verbatim repeat what he told you in order to get the answers right on exams.

Douglas is genuinely interested in his field and is very friendly. You will pass the course easily if you actually read (and there is a lot of it) and take notes. His tests aren't hard, you just have to recall the plots of the stories. Not a class for slackers! I think he's wonderful and I already signed up for another course with him

The absolute worse teacher I have ever had (I am not exaggerating). I can not believe he hasn't been fired yet. He will not help you or give you the grade you deserve. I got A's on the assignments and attended every class and he still gave me a B as a final grade. I tried to discuss my grade with him through e-mail and he was extremely rude.

Amazing! I had to take Folklore as a prereq for grad school & didn't expect to enjoy. BUT Douglas is an engaging, informed professor and the material is so interesting. Albeit, I'm a nerd, but I think about this class all the time. Definitely one of the best classes I've ever had. I wish I could take it again...

This professor was horrible! He was absolutely rude throughout the whole semester, was unwilling to answer questions in class, and rarely responded to e-mails. On top of that his tests are nothing like he says and his "study guides" are useless. Best example: on my mid-term he wrote "Your essays demonstrate that you should have an A" & gave me a B!

This professor is weird and kind of creeps me out. I'm sure sex has something to do with a lot of fairy tales but the way this guy talks about it genuinely made me feel uncomfortable, and I am a dude. Other than that, he is a pretty tough grader and does not allow for much creativity. Easily one of the worst professors I've had hat Towson.

worst class ever!! world folklore sounded like it would be a lot of fun and an easy A but Douglas is the worst teacher! Theres so much reading and his tests and quizes are so detailed. Would definately NOT recomend this teacher or this class.

He is nice and well versed on his subjects, but is not always very engaging during lectures. His tests require having done the readings and homeworks. Do not be creative on his papers....follow the format he gives you and give straight facts for a good grade. Also, PARTICPATE! It will be very important for your grade.

Amazing class instead of taking a class on a huge chunk of time you can learn all about the 60's for a gen ed or for fun. The books are interesting and there are class discussions. Particular about papers, but don't try to be creative just give the information asked for.
