Comment:
Does not care what students seem to think, and can be rude and arrogant in his responses. If you're looking for sympathy or help, go elsewhere. Very slow and talkative when presenting material, and not in a good way. I think its time to retire!

Dr. Young was a great professor. He is always there for his students. In fact, he held 4 review sessions for our final to make it accessible to everybody. Only downside is that he doesn't write notes on his slides. Content was great, he presents the most recent scientific articles which gave me insight on what is relevant now.

I had to ask for an extension on an assignment even though we were already given a large amount of time to complete it and I was very impressed and relieved with how understanding he was. I enjoy going to lecture I think he's really interesting to listen to. We're only halfway through the course but I found the midterm exam was extremely fair.

Dr. Young is very easygoing, and fair. He would take alot of time off his day to help his students. He is enthusiastic about his subject, and brings in relevent papers to complement the topic. I enjoyed going to 331 lectures. The MC/TF midterm AND final are not too hard, so long as you studied, and the assignment were very interesting

If you actually listen in tutorials and go to the TAs for help, then you won't fail the assignments. In fact, you might even actually *gasp* do well! He does go on a tangent in class sometimes, but if you go to him for help in your own time, you'll get your questions answered. Do the past exams as well. He repeats every question on the final.

The prof is nice and friendly, but the course and the material are absolutely terrible. It isnt designed for people that don know anything about genomics, so if you're new to the area......good luck you'll fail!! It should be a PhD course not undergrad just because nothing is explained and prior knowledge of biol wont help here!!! Avoid this course

Had a great midterm in 98 that was True or False and all the answers were False. Messed up half the class. It was hilarious!

His lectures are so interesting and so appealing in context. He definitely knows what he's talking about and is able to go off on so many related tangents (perhaps not the best thing) but it shows he passionate about his work and it makes you interested in it too.
