NON-SCIENCE PPL (especially COB majors), TAKE THIS MANZ. He is so reasonable & actually teaches this class like a GenEd should be. Weekly team assignments & those are the test study guides. This is basically a sprinkle of all of ur high school sciences in one class. Just show up & study the night before tests. TAKE HIM.

Goodall is not the worst professor, but he still is not great. His class required way too much tedious work, lectures are hard to follow, he takes mandatory group attendance in a giant lecture, & no dated syllabus given so he just throws assignments/exams at you. Grading criteria is clear, but you spend most of your time working in a group.

Paul is a good professor. Paul comes from the field so he is knowledgeable in real world applications. This class more work than i was used to for a gen ed. Homework is mostly team based so you should find a group of motivated and smart kids. I did not think the tests were that hard, I scored a 100 on one of them.

This class has so much material, so get ready to learn! There are many assignments due each week, however, they are mostly team assignments so make sure you pick a good group. Tests are okay, but you have to make it a point to study. Overall, he is such a nice professor and I would take this class again.

Please please please please don't take this class. SO much work involved for it being a Gen Ed. You will be teaching yourself physics and chemistry, stuff I hadn't touched in like four years. You can put in so much effort to studying, yet get absolutely terrible grades on them, no correlation, it doesn't make sense. Tests will tank your GPA.

Professor Goodall's Class is just straight up Ridiculous as a Gen Ed. Team Assignments are a major portion of your grade and he doesn't even teach all the material you have to learn. Doesn't explain mathematical problems at all. DO NOT TAKE

Get ready to re-teach yourself physics and algebra, immediately jump right into a math heavy course; work involved is ridiculous for being a 100 level GenEd; attendance is mandatory but all the notes he reviews in lecture are the canvas powerpoint notes ; online textbook is required and is insanely expensive. Do not take this class as a joke

Comment:
Lectures three times a week, lecture notes are basically him regurgitating the powerpoint notes on Canvas; four assignments due every week, team and individual; blows through actual test review sessions, doesn't give you time to fully understand how to work through problems and moves on before people have even finished writing stuff down.

Goodall is a pretty straight forward guy. The class consists of 3 days of lecture and 1 day of lab each week. Homework sets due every Monday and labs are due on Tuesday. Lets you turn in a day late or so with no penalty if you struggled. Tests are pretty brutal if you aren't 100% on your game that day. Short time and lots of lengthy problems.

Take his class if you're willing to put in the work. He's a really smart man and wants to help. You do a lot of team activities and he posts online lectures in more detail to canvas. Its interesting if you're into science because you go through a ton of different concepts, but it's a time consuming class if you want to do well.

Professor Goodall is 1 of the best professors I have had. He is clear, gives you everything you need to learn even if not taught in the lectures, and posts extended lectures to make sure everyone understands the difficult stuff. Tests are hard but not impossible, and if he screws up by asking things he said he wouldn't, he curves. Take over isci

Prof Goodall is a very nice guy, and wants everyone to succeed, but he expects too much for a gen ed. Every week there's connect and group assignments due which take up a good amount of time. Overall this class wasn't horrible, but definitely don't take if you have a heavy course load.

Goodall expects you to put A LOT of effort into this class. There are team and individual assignments due each week. He was very rude to my group and left discouraging comments on our team work. Tests also cover a lot of material. This was NOT an easy gen ed and ended up being one of my least favorite classes at JMU.

I love Professor Goodall. He is such a kind man and he will definitely help you. Friday classes were optional - he used it for help sessions, which I loved. Very accessible and very clear about what to know. Tests weren't too bad - I'm not good at sciencemath, but I did pretty well on them. Put in effort. Lots of group work, choose a good team.

Goodall and Teel both taught this class together. It is not an easy class if you are taking it for a gen ed. Combining physics and chemistry together. A good amount of homework, lectures aren't that helpful, tests are hard and a final project plus a final test which is 40% of your grade. Only take this class if you are good at chem and physics

1st half of class is taught by Stephen Frysinger and is pretty easy. 2nd half is taken over by Paul Goodall. Almost everything you learn will be about Physics problems. If you can't do physics, you're out of luck during this half. Don't buy the book, most questions can be found online.

I had Goodall for Recitation, but the Class is taught by Galgano/Goodall/Chen. Very helpful, but can be intimidating. I recieved most help from the TA, who was a peer and less intimidating. Still, Goodall is genuine - don't let the snicker/smile fool you.

Prof. Goodall was WONDERFUL especially once you get to know him and start going to his office hours. He helped me so much -- I failed the first two tests but got an 84% on the final! He emailed me as soon as he graded it, he is such a genuine man! Take him, even if the class is intimidating!
