Comment:

He's very nice and clearly knowledgeable but it doesn't translate at all. There's no actual content presented in lectures. All he does is tell personal stories and ask the class subjective questions. Didn't follow the syllabus AT ALL especially in terms of assignments. This class was painful and you're totally on your own to teach yourself.

He is really cool, I really enjoyed his class. He is particularly great at speaking and engaging the class by talking about the everyday things that everyone knows about and considers. I love when he rants about people on the bus these days or he mixes in some music or soccer talk.

This professor is very disorganized.But, he treats his students fairly and has a good sense of humour. He relies a lot on textbooks making this course dense. Once, he sent us an e-mail 10 minutes before class with the excuse, "My back hurts too much so I wont be able to come to class." It was an 8 30 class.

Engaging lectures occasionally. Readings do help but are overloaded. Great deal of your time will be dedicated toward this course. TAs do mini-assignments in tutorials. Prof Idahosa is incredibly knowledgeable in African Studies. Only seems unorganized if you haven't read BEFORE class. Do 1 supplemental reading you will find his lectures are on target. Tangents are explorations of pertinent topics time will not allow full investigation of. He demands you grapple with subject-do your part! Intellectually delicious!

Idahosa is brilliant and sexy to boot. His lectures are increadibly interesting and I appreciate his knowlege portrayed through discussion and lecture rather than simply reading from power point notes as I find too many profs have fallen subject to.

Proff Idahosa is very disorganized and goes off on several tangents although he is very knowledgeable about the subject and charismatic and humourous at times. Fortunately I got a good TA, but most of them aren't as good but it is possible to get an A. Watch out: Overload on readings

Prof. Idahosa def. has good knowledge about the field of 'African Studies'. However, he is not effective as a teacher because his lectures are very badly organized. He will jump from one topic to another and at the end of the lecture, sometimes, it is hard to find a common thread that joins all the topics together. Note: Beware of the T.A's!

Idahosa is horribly unorganized and regularly doesn'r stay on topic, however, if you listen to him he knows a lot about what he's talking about. I found that he had high expectations, watch out for his exams, you'll need to quote sources on a closed book exam!!

Very entertaining lecturer -- his anecdotes about his friends and family are priceless -- but tends to go off on tangents and has to rush through the end of his lecture outline to get it all in. Extremely approachable and helpful, even in research for another class. However, my TA for this class was two shades beyond awful.
