Comment:
I think students in his course had a harder time than other sections of 4170. There's definitely more work, and the 25% exam on top of conducting your own research didn't make things easy. That being said, I think students who try in his class learn more than the other sections. You learn a lot through the work and his strict expectations.

he is very much a stats and numbers kinda prof. Use him and the TAs as much as you can you will need refreshers on using SPSS.Oddly enough the thesis was only worth 40% of the final grade and there was a final exam based on 13 chapters of the textbook!! worth 25%. you get graded on participation/in class spss assignments. It IS hard to hear him/

Comment:
As someone else here said, he is VERY monotone. When the material of the course is dry, its hard to keep your eyes open. With that said, I still think he's a really good professor. He's really nice and will help you if you need it. I also did appreciate his jokes, and other people would laugh too. It definitely made the class more interesting.

Comment:
While he knows his stuff, his approach to the material is very dated and dry. His clarity is poor, as half the time it is hard to grasp what he is trying to articulate. He tries to incorporate mild humour at times, which fails. More so, his grading is extremely stringent. He is very anal about following APA guidelines and his feedback is poor.

I am sure that he is very intelligent, but you can't keep your eyes open long enough to listen to him. He is very monotone, which makes it hard to concentrate for long periods of time. Fortunately, most of this course involves independent work, so its bearable. He takes a keen interest in his students, and is very approachable.

I have to defend the man. He was an excellent teacher, provided you were willing to work hard and were smart enough to understand what he was trying to teach you. He always made himself available. Friendly guy. Nice guy. I took three stats/research courses with him. I think he's retired though, so it's a moot debate. But the man was good.

This is the kind of prof. where if you get a good grade he seems allright, but if you don't, there's a lot about him to complain about. If you're looking for a great prof. who will open your mind, he is NOT IT. If you're looking to simply finish your thesis requirement, he's no worse than anyone else
