The major seminar was awesome! However, we had a final exam for the course. If you study and work hard on his class, then you should be able to get a reasonably good grade.

Comment:
Dr. Russell is truly an exemplary philosopher and instructor. Kind, approachable, clear, and insightful. You will not regret taking his class. He is open to hearing your ideas and debating them with you, he balances showing the flaws in your argument with being civil toward you nonetheless. If I become half the philosopher he is, I'd be very happy.

Professor Russell is one of the best profs I've ever had in my three years at UBC. It is obvious that he is passionate about what he teaches and he encourages students to give their opinions. Very easy going and doesn't shoot down your ideas (like some other profs I've had).

Prof.Russell was fantastic. He is clearly passionate about what he teaches and is very engaging. I wish he had marked my essays and not the TA. He kept the class interesting and was very respectful towards the students, no arrogant philosophy prof air about him

Comment:
The honor's seminar was great. His teaching was good. There were two problems: (a) his chosen textbooks sucked and (b) he was planning to give us a final exam (which was cancelled). He chose texts that he had not previously read! His teaching, itself, though is incredibly interesting and fun to listen to.

Very good instructor! Nice lectures, good course load. BUT his TA is extremely boring, and is a very picky, and unreasonable marker. Thus, all good but the TA.
