Comment:

Chimbos is so passionate about sociology that knowing I don't have him next term hurts me. He has an incredible concern for social issues & really tries to inspire his students (worked for me). I never had an educator who cared for students as much as he does - he genuinely loves his classes and teaching! I need to try taking another class of his.

Comment:

I am about the graduate and looking back Chimbos was by far my favourite professor. It is true, he is very old school with his overhead projector and lecturing without anything. However, I loved that style of teaching, because it gave the people that actually showed up a major advantage over the ones that didn't. His exams are very fair!

He is great! He makes his students laugh and tries his best to keep classes interesting. He doesn't use OWL, so I recommend bringing a laptop to classes in order to write good notes. He repeats his sentences so students have enough time to write! He was just a great prof and his exams were fair if you attended class!

Prof. Chimbos is by far one of the best profs ive ever had. I took one of his classes 1st semester and i just HAD to switch into another one of his classes for 2nd semester. He is such a helpful prof, he cares about his students, exams are really easy if you study. overall great prof! highly suggest him! i picked him as a prof for 3rd year again!

I had Professor Chimbos prior to graduating in 1998, and I found him to be excellent. what I obtained from him and his class was very beneficial to my life/success, post university. Boring lectures, entire class is spent scrambling to get all the notes down, so you don't really get to make any mental connections between theory and practice. He is very unclear at times. He is a relic of the past and I find myself relying on the text to clarify many things.

AMAZING professor. Beyond fair, if you attend class and actually listen and read the text you are guaranteed a good mark, no tricks on his exams. He's absolutely adorable and helpful and tries as hard as his Greek accent allows him to make everything clear, and he does a damn good job. Take whatever class with him, you won't regret it.

Can be very hard to debate with in class, he has his perspective and tends not to listen to the students. But pull him aside and duke it out...he'll listen to you. Go to class and pay attention.

Professor Chimbos is the only prof I ever had in university who promised to never fail a student who faithfully attends class and does the readings. Very fair. His first hand experience makes his classes much more interesting. He is by far one of the best profs I ever had.

one of the most frustrating classes i've sat through. He uses his classroom as a platform for peddling his political beliefs. He presents hte most simplistic arguments, and ONLY the liberal side, NEVER the conservative. Insanely biased, and if you hold ANY conservative beliefs, this class will drive you out of your mind!

A great prof, a very nice man! He is organized- his lectures are very planned out and easy to follow when you're studying later. There is a fair bit of writing but not too much. When he lectures, he speaks slowly and repeats himself so that you're sure to catch the important details. His exams are very fair, know the lecture notes well.
