Comment:

Very test heavy, but an awesome professor! Made good jokes in the lecture to keep us listening. Gave lots of good examples of maps and the pictures on the slides helped a lot. Study your map projections in a lot of detail though - the first test was heavily related to them.

Knew nothing about GIS before taking the course, and now I'm very interested in it, labs were hard but were fun, overall can be an enjoyable class if you put in the effort

Comment:

Peter is really knowledgeable about GIS. He explains concepts clearly and is very helpful. Marking is fair, but if you get stuck with a TA that is a tough marker, talk to him about it during his office hours and he'll fix it for you. Labs can be difficult, but again, visit him or your TAs during office hours and you'll be fine.

Peter is a really good prof. He helps you when you are struggling explains all grading and makes time outside office hours. He always has new websites to show you. Labs are very hard and require a lot of effort but they pay off on the tests. His T/F can be hard. KNOW YOUR DIAGRAMS FOR TESTS. He makes hard concepts understandable.

Peter is a wonderful professor! I'm happy that I got the chance to have him teach GEOG181. He cares about his students as well as showing pretty cool (and sometimes funny) stuff I never heard about in class. His tests are pretty straightforward and the lectures are easy to follow along and interesting. Would have another course with him again.

Dr. Peter Deadman is a very interesting professor. He obviously has an immense passion for the subject. His lectures are perfectly clear, and he can explain concepts so that everyone will understand. A brilliant man, with impeccable geographic knowledge. For your own sake take a class with him.

his TA's mark hard but if u go to him he'll fix it. if you don't understand ANYTHING! just go and ask him!! the Labs are great for raising marks but for the first couple USE CLASS time cause u'll have a lot of "i lost my tool bar.. how do i get it back" kind of stupid Questinnd

Good lectures as they have all the information that is on the midterms. y reading over the text and lecture notes online you can pass the class. Poor choice in TAs... they are not knowledgable and they do not all mark to the same dificulty. Deadman is concerned about people passing and will have help sessions for students that need them.

This class is so boring if you aren't a super GIS nerd. The labs help bring up your marks, but that all depends on what TA you have. Don't bother reading the textbook, it's a waste of time. Just memorize your class notes for the exams and get in a good group for the final project and your set.
