Comment:

I graduated from Library School in 2000 and attended 3 of his classes. If you work hard (and I mean HARD,) you will see the fruits of your labor. He is a very nice person when you get to know him. I am glad I took all of his classes.

Comment:

I was unsure if I could understand his Hungarian accent at first but it wasn't a problem. He likes to lecture but is actually funny sometimes and gives good examples/analogies. I felt singled out for a mistake I made in the midterm and didn't want to return to class. However, I did very well on the final and learned a lot.

I am surprised by some of the comments here. Professor Jacso is extremely concerned with student learning and is a very kind person. However, he does have little tolerance for slackers, so I assume this is where some of the previous posters went astray. Contrary to what was written before Jacsó does not play favorites. There are no gimme's in this class. As long as you put forth 100% effort into your work and research you will receive the respect you deserve. I have noticed that those who feel that he plays favorites are those people who do not show initiative...

Jacso is a web critic who sidelines as a professor. He's extremely knowledgeable about what's wrong with search engines and online databases, but shows little interest in students. His class assignments can be valuable immersions in tickling information from complex databases, but don't expect much feedback. Jacso is only interested in Jacso.

He's a tough cookie. So you'all better work hard for the money. However, he is a genius and very fair. I couldn't understand the lectures, which forces you to really look hard at the reading material. I think I learned the most from this class.

Learned more in this class than in any other. Combines challenging and cutting-edge material with top-notch teaching abiity. Very kind but won't let slackers sit there and vegetate, so gets a reputation as being "hard". If you want to learn (it's grad school after all!) take this class :)
