Comment:
Just reads off the slides word for word. His voice becomes very irritating. Also runs the labs, and does a poor job explaining them. (the labs are not worth the effort) He knows his stuff, and is passionate about it, but just isn't suitable for teaching. Tests were okay.

Comment:
Peter Long's way of teaching is so boring, one cuz he's monotone and secondly cuz all he does is read off of the slides. His lectures are short and easy going and I believe if you come to all the lectures and listen and understand the content, the tests won't be hard for you. Ps- lab assignments take up more effort than they are worth! :/

Physical Geography.... All I can say that it was a very painful course. He is not very flexible and will demand your 100%. His test/quizzes are designed to trick you. He has made some very contriversy comments in class. Worst course i've ever taken, and this is coming from someone who has been in the school for 6 years. I worked hard for my grade

The entire course is like a pocketbook sized encyclopedia: tries to cover everything with bare essential explanation. So full of jargon, not knowing geology made it extra difficult. Geog1400 doesn't adequately prepare a student for this supposedly 2nd year course. Tests are difficult, but at least he is quite generous with bell-curves.

This is the first year comes with midterm in this course and it is the same as final, all the contents are covered in midterm. You will find his lecture is torture because he just reads through all the powerpoints which come with full loads of words, rarely comes with pics or tables. I will never take his course again.

Comment:
He was one of the instructors for the course as well as the lab. His tests are lecture based, but the lecture contains quite a bit of stuff, and even some trivial looking bits made it into the test. I wish his labs were more simple and instructions a bit more clear; they were a struggle. Otherwise, very straight forward in teaching and testing.

He seems like a really nice guy but I did not learn from him. He literally reads off the slides and they are just packed with words. Rarely do you see some diagram or chart. He also has a very monotone voice and you will fall asleep in this class if you don't listen carefully. No assignment, or quiz. Just Final exam, term paper and presentation.

Peter was the Lab Coordinator. He was very helpful, and was always very approachable / willing to help - even if it wasn't his official office hours! Study, and go to lectures and you'll be fine.

"Physical Geography". I did not like this class one bit. Peter Long was the lab coordinator for this class. He wasn't too bad, but he did not do a very good job at explaining the labs. Most of us were left clueless at the end of his mini presentations. Nice prof, but don't say I didn't warn you!

Oh man, Peter Long is like a right of passage for first year geography students. He only reads off the slides in lectures and has a really monotone voice, so if you're not sitting in front you WILL fall asleep. You HAVE to study as tests are tricky. Labs are really useful and fair. He is an amazing guy, really funny and willing to help. Love him.

Had him for physical geo. He's a teddy bear that I just want to hug. Awesome prof, very helpful, fair marker, brilliant man. All of his students love and admire him for what he does for his students. Thank you Peter Long, you are best prof for physical geo! Just read, study, exams are very fair, labs are tough but hes there to help u succeed.

Peter Long is a really cool professor. He loves physical geo, has an awesome sense of humor, approachable, wants students to do well, and is very passionate. Highly recommended prof vs the guy who teaches intro to physical geo. As a geo major, I delayed this course until my final year, but it was worth to do it over the summer. Peter Long rocks!

He reads directly off powerpoint slides, and very quickly then tests you on the most specific aspects of it. Sooooo much material for a first year course and he just touches little aspects of everything rather than focusing on a particular part. Labs are the only thing that boost marks, TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE!!!
