Dr. Worthing is a fantastic professor and easily one of my favorites at TCU. Pay attention during lecture and email him if you have any questions. He can answer almost any question you ask him about China, and he makes a lot of 80s movie references. He's super cool and 10/10 would recommend everyone to take a class of his.

Dr. Worthing is such a great professor and makes the lectures really interesting. There are very few grades in that class, but as long as you go to class and pay attention you can do well. He was very passionate about the topic and that showed each day in class.

I'm a history minor, so I've had a few history professors. This guy is one of the best TCU has. Only complaint is he might be too easy of a grader, I wrote a terrible essay on one of the tests and still ended up getting a B on the exam. However, you do have to put in considerable work to get an A. I highly recommend Professor Worthing.

If you are not a history, lit, or English major this is difficult. Structure of assignments revolves arond tech gained through those majors. Extreme detail is needed. extra non main course assignments that you will be tested on. It's not that the course is hard its not welcoming to outsiders which can affect your grade neg despite knowing stuff.

Professor Worthing is seriously the man. I don't even look at the clock during his lectures. He's super knowledgeable and makes the subject he's teaching extremely interesting. Definitely the best survey level class I've taken, if not favorite history class. He's super "cool" in my opinion... he said "I was bee-bopping around campus the other day."

Dr. Worthing is a really great teacher. He's not easy, but you learn A LOT about China from his class. A lot of writing (DO YOUR RESEARCH), but very interesting class. Highly recommended. I'm a history major though, so I actually LIKE history.

Took modern china from him. Was interesting and informative: I knew virtually nothing about China prior to this, but he taught it very well. Great teacher. Only teacher to ever cause me to question my sexuality.

Hands down, the best teacher at TCU. His lectures are extremely interesting and are easy to follow. This could easily be a boring class, but Prof. Worthing makes it interesting and fun. The tests are hard, only because he wants you to write down everything you learned. The books you read are intersting as well. Take this class.

Dr. Worthing is a tough teacher, but I enjoyed the class nonetheless. The exams were the hardest, but that's partly due to me studying the night before and not being a history fan. For tests, he wants you to put ALL the information you learned in class into the essay responses/IDs on the exam; don't worry about eloquent writing, just put the info!

GREAT TEACHER! Took 2 classes from him and my grades showed progression meaning he actually teaches. Very helpful with any questions and truly wants you to understand material. Picks interesting books but grades hard. Use the writing center to help. Can be difficult but rewarding when you do well. Interesting class and incredible teacher.

Dr. Worthing's great! Tests are all essay, and you should prob prepare a week before b/c of all the info. 4 outside novels to read in which you have an in-class quiz on two, and an outside paper on the other two. Quizzes are very easy grade boosters as long as you read the book. Difficult grader sometimes. He's a grammar nazi, so proofread!!!

Difficult grader, but it makes you feel great when you actually do well. Tests off of lectures which flow well and make sense. He makes each class interesting and worth attending. He is very willing to help and reassuring. Passionate about history and making us understand. Definitely take him if you have the chance. Highly recommended.

He is a great teacher, he is really interesting and he really knows his Asian history. Class is fun but the tests are pretty hard and he is a tough grader.
