He left us halfway through the semester and I didn't think I would miss his teaching style but boy did I ever. He does lots and lots of examples which is awesome, but you definitely have to go to lecture to get the notes. His notes are clear and well done. He has an accent, but it does not detract from learning and can be kind of funny sometimes.

Had Dr. Lisonek for only half a semester because of a sick leave. It was very unfortunate because I really liked how he gave a lot of examples in his notes. Attend lectures as the notes aren't posted anywhere. His exams were fair if you do the course notes and other homework! His accent is very amusing!

Must attend his lectures to get the notes, doesn't post filled notes, which is understandable. Has an accent. You need to yell loudly for him to hear your question (seriously!), he does NOT try to ignore students,he just can't hear well sometimes. Good prof, and fair, and he reminded the students of the available past exams on SFU's official website.

He goes over many examples in lectures (he may go through it fast, but the pace was fine for me). He is a nice teacher and he encourages questions in/out of lec. Midterm was fair; just practice as much as you can (lec notes, IQ, CN, maybe OQ but meh) & understand concepts since that's generally how you can do well in calc

Can come off as mean or rude, not that friendly when you ask questions. Very good examples in class and variations of them show up on exams. Study his examples and you will do well, along with the true false questions from the practice midterms online from the math department.

One of the most intelligent and kindest professors in sfu. Was patient with me in the ACW for extra help and made sure i understand the material. He left us mid semester on sick leave and i honestly miss his teaching style. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Petr was a really good prof. He uses a lot of examples during lectures which is amazing and so useful for exams. I only had him for half the semester but I wish I had him for the entire thing. Assigned textbook questions are good to follow before exams and the questions on the exams were very fair if you went over lecture and text examples.

Lisonek's teaching ability is pretty standard, but the real money is in the class examples he uses in his lecture notes; variations of these examples always manage to find their way onto his exams. Exams are fair if you study, do the homework, come prepared for quizzes. Practice practice practice. Algebra is key.

Petr is pretty boring to listen to. He can be patronizing and socially awkward. But he does cover the material pretty well and his examples mostly make sense. Exams are fair. Theres a lot of material covered in the semester, but its not a hard class if you put the time and effort into the homework every week.

There is a lot to cover in just 3 months, however, prof lisonek does a really nice job explaining the concepts. Weekly quizzes are basically freebies if you do the HW since the Q's are taken straight from there. Midterms, as well as the final exam was fair. As long as you do the HW and know your material, you should be good to go!

The lectures are quite rushed as there is so much material to be covered in this course. He provides detailed examples and emphasizes on important concepts. The midterms are fairly straight-forward, if you go over all the examples in the lecture notes and keep up with the weekly homework assignments. The final exam was a lot tougher.

Dr. Lisonek is a great teacher. All you need to do to pass his exams and weekly quizzes is to attend class every time, do SOME of the homework, and go over his notes. Try to do your best on the midterms, so that you have less pressure doing the final exam. I really don't understand why people say this is a hard class, because it's not.

1. Notes and examples posted online but you MUST attend class to obtain the answers from those examples 2. He doesn't let you talk and eat in class. He may CATCH you, so I advise you to sit at the back to do this if you MUST 3. Really HARD course overall, especially if you're NOT good in math 4. REVIEW regularly & ask for HELP to SUCCEED!

Midterms were based on in class examples so its useful to go to class. His teaching is not very clear though, I learnt mostly through the examples, textbook, and youtube videos. He is however very helpful during office hours. Do the practice midtermsfinals and textbook questions and you'll be fine.

Petr overcomplicates simple topics and has a very fast-paced teaching style. However, his exams are very straight forward and easy. If you study off his note examples and do textbook questions this class will turn out to be an easy A.

The first midterm is easy and the second one is brutal. The class itself isn't easy especially if you're not good at math. Your mark will reflect your understanding of the material. His tests are fair if you know what you're doing.

Petr can come across as gruff, and you better not talk in class, but this guy is great. Very helpful, very clear, cares about helping his students. Especially nice with one on one questions. Class requires lots of work, weekly assignments, but he makes it bearable. The first math prof I had who provided bio examples in a bio based math class
