Comment:

Great professor! His lectures made history come alive. He teaches with enthusiasm and passion. Tells history like a story. His quizzes are super easy and the multiple choice section of the tests are a breeze. The essay portion of the test is a little tricky so you will have to study. His final is NOT cumulative which was a blessing.

Im not much of a History person, but Catton was great, it was like he was telling a story. He is really open to questions and input during his lectures. His has quizzes almost every week (easy A if you come to class), and his tests were very straight forward.

PROFESSOR CATTON IS A WONDERFUL PROFESSOR. If you are a visual learner he might be a little difficult, but he really is a great professor. He explains everything clearly, and whenever you ask a question he always answers and never makes you feel stupid. The Multiple choice parts of the test are easy, but the DA is a little harder. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!

Dr. Catton is clear on what he expects from all students. He is almost always in his office, so it is easy to receive help which he willingly gives.

Dr. Catton is a great professor. Ignore the negative criticisms! His lectures are very well organized and clear, so note taking is certainly not an issue. The multiple choice section of the exams are a free 40 points, while the essay sections' 60 points per exam must be earned. With a few hours of study per exam, this class should not be an issue.

Good professor but extremely hard. His essays on his tests seem easy when you are writing but he tears apart your paper and doesn't give you anywhere near the grade you thought you were going to get. Class is just lecture. Hard to follow with his accent. Helpful and kind but a hard teacher. If you can just handle talking for over an hour, take him.

He is super hard to understand because of his British accent. Also, he doesn't really prepare you for the test so you never know what's going to be on it. I suggest getting an AARC tutor for this class. He uses the book and gives quizzes every week over the chapters in the book.

Okay he is a really good professor, but if you have a hard time with just lectures and no powerpoint, don't take him. He talks the whole class time and that is it. It is a harder class for me because I need a visual but other than that he is a good professor. He really wants you to come in his office hours if you need help. He loves his job.

the entire class is lecture and tests are 40 pts multiple choice and 60 pts essay. he really expects you to be thorough with your essays. the multiple choice is easy to get 4040, but he wants to know about each event or person and everyone and everything related. go to the SI. I passed, but it was not easy. take very good notes and study them

He loves what he teaches, so it is more of story time than a lecture. I personally hate history but, the way he goes about his lectures made it easy for me to understand. He has a small accent but i did not have trouble understanding him. It was actually quit interesting at times. He will makes you laugh also! Great Professor!

I am not sure who is rating this professor. He must be rating himself. BEWARE! all test are BLUEBOOK and I don't care how much you write its not going to be good enough. He is full of himself. Stuck on Power and looking to fail a student. Ice cold his what he is known for on campus. Don't take him.

Mr. Catton is an awesome teacher. he is very involverd with the class and makes it interesting . He has a british accent which makes the class funny at times. Over all go to class read your notes and the chapters in the book and you should be fine. The only hard part on the test is the essay questions you must be very detailed.

Great professor with a true passion for the subject! Dr. Catton was always willing to help during his office hours. He engages with his students and knows your name. He has a British accent and has dry British humor. Tests are multiple choice and short answer. Take good notes, ASK questions, and you're guaranteed an easy A.

Purchase lecture material. Eventhough he only formulates his quizzes around Constructing America Past, the other book is extremely helpful if you happen to miss class. He doesn't take role, neither does he post slides online. the syllabus will tell you what to read if you miss class or get notes from some one else.

Wonderful guy, loves what he teaches and is happy to help. For the first time in my life I found history to be interesting and enjoyable. A must take. You will thank me later on this one. His test are not that bad, he does give an essay question on each test but half is multiple choice and he does not require knowing exact dates. Need I say more?

He is a very nice & helpful teacher. Makes class interesting cuz of his english accent lol. funny at times as well. I recommend to take this class its best if you go to class so you can listen to him & take notes. I hardly read the book just skimmed it a couple of times. Gives three tests & couple of quizzes. Just take good notes & youll pass.
