I never took a normal class with Professor Sohm, but he agreed to sponsor my independent study anyways. We only met twice, but he was great to talk to. I regret never being able to have a real class with him.

He is truly the best teacher I've ever had. I learned so much. He changed the way I approached art history. It bothers me these ppl say he can't lecture - I'm convinced those ppl are the idiots that make you dread going to class; they waste oxygen or ask stupid questions. Don't listen to them. We're lucky to have someone this caliber in Toronto.

Friendly man and obviously accomplished academic, but hopelessly disorganized. Speaks haltingly sometimes, gets bogged down in details. Takes forever to answer questions. Readings are heavy, but interesting. The course syllabus looked fascinating, but we've learned maybe half of it because of his inability to stick to schedule. Really disappointed.

An outstanding professor. Highly approachable, and has an enormous respect for students. His work is very interesting, too. What he has to say can change the way you think about Art History. Knows everyone in his field, too.
