Kumar is probably good in his field but awful at teaching. Lectures quickly devolve into monotonous reading from his notes and unreadable examples on the overhead. Do yourself and favour and take it next year with another prof. Class of 100, about 25 show up and they just sleep.

Really nice guy, knows what hes talking about, but I dont think teaching is his thing. In class he is often hard to hear and can be somewhat unpredictable with test material and learning outcomes.

I used to love math, then I took a class with this guy. Here's some basic points of my experience with him: -Tells us that we get a weeks notice for quizzes, only gives us one night of notice -Mumbles in a thick accent, writing is messy -Makes rude comments about the class not showing up -Adds to prior curriculum stated -Rushes through topics

Dr. Kumar is extremely difficult to understand in class, and I often found myself falling asleep or skipping class because it was not engaging at all. He wrote notes really quickly. He was helpful in office hours and open book midterms/finals were much easier than assignments. An easy course if you put in the work.

Kumar is an atrocious teacher. He reads off his powerpoints you can get off blackboard and his accent, plus he speaks quietly, make him hard to hear. There is no point in going to class, because you have to teach yourself the material anyway. I would avoid him if possible. His tests are really easy though.

This has to be the most useless teacher I have ever seen. He skimmed though the text book at the ridiculous pace of one chapter sector per 1 hour lecture, without 1 single example. I will never take another course he is teaching and will never recommend anyone else does.

A nice guy but not a good lecturer. I didn't find his accent that bad. Like others have said, he does lots of examples and knows the material very well, but makes a lot of little mistakes which makes the notes unreliable. Go to his office for help, and definitely go to SI!

This guy has a bad accent, but he is very helpful when you visit his office, he makes sure to help you in every possible way. gives out hints on what is on exams, so if you attend class you should be fine.

Kumar is really a good man and tries tremendously to help students... you just have to go to his office. However, I ended up excusing myself since I couldn't understand his accent. Poor guy tries to speak clearly but it is an uphill battle. Overall, not the best. Hopefully people will give him a break though since the man does bend over backwards.

Yes, it is true Kumar is hard to understand, but that is not his downfall. The fact he puts in so little effort frustrates me to tears! He doesn't use anything but the text book DVD and when he tries to do examples he screws up and then gives up. Thank God for S.I. my instructor actually makes sure everyone who attends has a fighting chance. BLAH!

A lot has changed since 2005... This teacher is terrible and he makes what is supposed to be an easy freebie course into a horrible course. Asks types of questions on tests that are not taught in class. Open book exams means the questions have to be ones the book cannot help you with. If you take this class with Kumar you will regret it.
