She gives you a safety net. Drops the two lowest lab grades. Lots of extra credit. There's an extra credit question that she gives you the answer to in class before every exam. Get this... the extra credit question on the final was worth an extra 10 points out of a 100 point exam. Borderline grade? Then she looks at your participation.

Yo, all you need to do is respect this woman and just abide by her rules and you will live happily ever after. She is amazing. if you find it hard to abide by peoples rules just don't take the class. I promise you she is willing to go over a particular thing 100 times if you don't understand. She tells what is going to come out in tests

A decent professor and nice lady, I enjoyed the class I took with Professor Burks. She is very knowledgeable of her field and does her best to make the material interesting, but she's not perfect. Her tests are really challenging, and she can come off unapproachable and somewhat rude at times. Overall, not too bad.

Do not take Professor Burks if you don't have to. She is definitely one of the worst professors I have had in my entire undergraduate career at Towson. She is rude to her students, mumbles under her breath, extremely passive aggressive, and not helpful at all. She never answers questions and makes you feel stupid for asking them in the first place

Honestly, I learned to enjoy this professor. While she may be harsh at times, she is very honest and if she is rude to a student most of the times they probably deserve it for talking, texting, etc. This class will drastically improve your writing skills, and as long as you attend class and read the syllabus you'll be fine.

I wanted to like her after the first week. Interesting class, seemed very professional and good at teaching. I soon realized she's one of the nastier professors I've had. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Literally throws things and snaps at students. Tests are difficult.

Wow, she is just rude. I think she is rude and I like practically every teacher. She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is also a very hard grader. If you miss like two commas, it is an automatic 80%. The only possible grades you can receive is 100, 80, 70, and 60. The upside is that there aren't any tests.

She doesn't give handouts!! Put in the work and she will gladly help. She is very knowledgeable and fun to be around. A lot of people don't like her, but they are generally the people who are doing horribly in class because they are poor students and get upset that they get the poor grade they deserve.

Excellent teacher. One of the best I've ever had. Courses are challenging but very interesting. Very fair grader. Quite Hilarious. As long as you pay attention and show initiative you should have no problems with Dr. Burks.

I have her now for history of science and structural geology. She is very strict. expect a heavy work load. things must be don't to a t how she wants. She has a very poor sense of humor. I emailed her concerning a question on a quiz and she didn't reply via email, instead wrote me a nasty little remark on paper she handed back. Very bad professor.

Ive had Dr. Burks for quite a few classes now. She is one of the worst professors Ive had at Towson. She is a HORRIBLE person and is not willing to help you with anything. I would have never taken her if I could have avoided it. Good luck if you take her and dont plan on having your questions answered.

dont take early in the morning, i fell asleep everyday, kind of boring and dark in the room, nice demeanor but kind of mean when it comes to answering questions. she didnt like me. tried to make geology interesting and threw in a lot of easy labs and experiments in, kind of a harsh grader but when it came to a final grade i think she was gracious

This professot is great. I have had her for a number of classes and I think that she is smart and helpful and is willing to work with students that are having trouble in the class. All you have to do is go and see her durring her office hours. Labs are alright, could be better. Take her if you ever have the opportunity.

History of Science Writing Intensive.Burks is a very hard grader on the writing assign. At first I was very put-off, but to tell the truth it did make me a better writer. The lectures are very interesting and enjoyable. She knows her stuff and it shows. Only take if you are willing to work on your writing. Her test are not that bad
