Comment:
She only posts her notes online if overall class attendance is above 90%, but when you take notes in class she changes the slides WAY too quickly to get important information down... The exam is 45%. Her expectations for assignments are extremely vague. Seems more like a religion class than any of the cool topics listed in the description and syll.

Her seminar was difficult, and to make things worse she had an in-class final exam for it that was very hard. Luckily I passed it. Her views on certain issues in Canada were very apparent as well, although she didn't force it on her students. Overall, I wouldn't recommend her.

Really cool prof. This class is more student oriented since its a seminar so the prof doesnt teach much but the topics she chooses are very well rounded and are an amazing discussion. The prof knows her stuff and is really reasonable with marking. Id take her class again :)

Amazing prof! Her seminar is organized in a manner which allowed me to learn and improve rather than just giving an assignment worth most of my grade. She cares about her students and gave detailed feedback on assignments too. She's also very objective and doesn't force you to pick one side of an argument. Best prof i've had. TAKE HER CLASS!!!

I do like this professor as she has taught me a lot. Some reviews I read on here about her are not accurate. I took a seminar with her so she didn't do much talking but when she would lecture she would talk about interesting stuff. I would take her again.

MONOTONE, MONOTONE, MONOTONE is all i can say! I regret taking her class so much. The lectures are so disorganized and she has a monotone voice, which just makes you want to sleep.

This prof peddles pure misandry. If you are a male - save your time, your self esteem and your money and avoid this class . If you are a full time student of Carleton political science, try taking classes which will give you actual work skills such as research analysis courses. From a former graduate years gone by.

I think my time taking classes with this Prof was almost like being brainwashed and mind controlled at the Frankfurt School of Social Relations. Was otherwise a nice person.

She's very disorganized. Skips over half of the slides because she runs out of time after making numerous cringy jokes. Her slides also happen to be filled with comedic pictures rather than actual information, yet expects you to know what she thought she taught. If you like gambling your grades and winging it all the time, this class is for you.

Avoid her class. It was depressing to be in a class where the incredible bias towards a certain worldview was painfully obvious in every lecture slide. Not what you would call a patriot in any sense. If you are fond of this country, prepare to be guilted about it (unless of course, you are a part of an 'oppressed' group in society). Note my grade.

She is the worst professor I have ever had. Very biased. She does not understand Canadian politics, nor is she interested in teaching it. You must agree with or else. Honestly, not informative or thought provoking, more strange than anything else.

By far the worst professor that I have ever had in my time at Carleton. I signed up for Canadian political institutions however all I got was a rant about what the white man did to the natives each week. We did not get through over half of the class material, I have never been more disappointed in a class in my life.

Dry and dull lectures (brought in interesting guest speakers, however). Presented her (strong) views and opinions as fact, and was unwilling to admit to doing so.

Professor Jhappan challenges her students to think critically about the issues raised throughout the course material. She was very fond of in-class discussions and debates. If you do not like participating and engaging with the material in that way, then avoid her classes. She was definitely one of the best professor's I've had.

Prof. was fairly biased and unorganized, such a shame in what could have been an amazing class. Lots of useful material to work through, but papers were never handed back on time or misplaced, and class generally lacked structure. Never knew when stuff was actually due, or what we actually needed to hand in.

She is such a cool prof, her lectures are interesting and she's so animated! The course syllabus is very detailed, it states exactly what is expected in her assignments and what to do to pass the class. I would recommend her and certainly take any classes with her in the future.

Class was completely unorganized . Prof was very opinionated, so if you don't agree with what she says, good luck receiving a good mark. Interesting subjects, but no structure of the course. Most people in the class were generally disappointed.

Prof herself okay, but having to go to her office hours during exams to give her a record of everything you said is unacceptable. You just did a 1/3 of her job for her. A formal exam in a seminar is unacceptable, and borderline cruel and unusual.
