I really enjoyed his class. He was usually well prepared and new what he was talking about. Went to talk to him with any questions and he was very willing to help. If he is still around, I would suggest taking him.

Comment:

I have mixed opinions about this guy - he is usually not clear in his explanations but is willing to help when you need it. He only grades you on tests (no quizzes, homework grades, etc.) so if you're a horrible test-taker, avoid at all costs. He gives you practice tests before each test which help immensely because format is essentially the same.

Avoid this professor if at all possible. He made a fairly easy topic extremely hard. If you have to take him, do all the unassigned homework problems and visit him often. Also study the practice tests very well.

I have mixed feelings about Dr. Soni. He's a very nice person and a good teacher, but I really didn't like the class. First off, the class material was too easy; it was boring. The tests were just way too long, even though they were easy. All but the final were tests of your speed rather than your understanding (the last test was very reasonable).

I thought this class would be ok since I had most of the material in high school. He doesn't really teach; he just goes over problems and proves formulas "just for fun." He also has a strong accent. I thought I did well in the class but I was wrong. Don't take him if you are not good at math, don't like math, or not looking to be challenged in math

U can't understand a word he says. "was I right?" Is his favorite saying that he says every other sentence. He only talks about how smart he is. All his test are cumlative of everything else you've learned. He never gives u examples in class, he just derives the formula u learn, so when it comes to the homework, u can't do it unless u read the book

CONS: Favorite saying is "You either get it or you don't". Hard to understand what he is saying in class. Very HARD and to the point tests. PROS: Will do any problem you want on the boards. No graded hw assigns. Very nice outside of class. OVERALL: Take him if you want a hardcore math experience. DO NOT TAKE him if youre not a math person!

I had a class of about 25 and the first thing he said to the class was "there are to many of you in here, I intend to change that." He did a good job considering only 2 people passed the class. Stay out of his classes.

He is a wonderful professor. He is definitely not easty, though! However, he is more than willing to help you as long as it takes until you get something right. Don't expect to get an A, unless you are brilliant, but you will learn the material. If you choose to never go to his office, you probably won't do well. Good luck!

This guy will kill your GPA. I had never made a C ever in college (in over 90 hours of classes) and I made one in this class. I am glad he didn't teach the math 241 and math 231 classes I took.

1987: This guy had absolutely no business teaching numerical methods. A complete waste of time! Perhaps in another topic he would be OK. He seemed nice and perhaps I should have approached him with my concerns (--I was too immature) So he might have been helpful had I tried harder -- but the class was just awful!

He was horrible. He would yell at the class, call us stupid. He made one girl cry while she was up at the board, she never came back to class. So what she couldn't take a derivative, no need to yell. Got an F, retook w/ Bonee and got an A.

Dr. Soni is hard to understand and hard to follow sometimes, but truly if you go talk to him, he'll help you and do everything he can to help you understand. He's a really great teacher if you are willing to put in the time to attend class and really try to understand the material.

Possibly the smartest man alive, only problem is that he's too smart and thinks that everyone else knows what he's talking about. Sometimes he really gets going and you can't understand what he's talking about the entire class period. He's a nice guy, somewhat funny, his class is just impossible.

He is the best professor I've had. Others dont like him because they did not go talk to him or get help from him. If you befriend him, he will help in any way possible. He really does care. He says once a student always a student, and means it.
