Mr. Lake is the most rocking teacher that you'll ever have. Often looses track of context of the class and goes off on awkwardly fun stories about literally nothing. Fair marker, generous for late work, provided you make an effort to contact or explain, and just a generally good guy.

easy! the only reason i got a B+ and not an A was because I'm lazy and mostly spent my time on Macroeconomics. He's awesome just make sure you memorize the characters and use common sense and your guaranteed a B

don't take chinese 2 course with him if you took chinese 1 with Tong chow. class is very disorganized hard to follow him you have to memorize tons of characters hard to find in text. if you just memorize characters in contents, you can't get good grade. his prononciation is terrible

I havent had a professor that was so knowledgable in their field of study! He likely knows more than most chinese speakers. A great course to take at the beginning he may seem to be going too fast, i think thats because he's used to chinese students taking his class not ppl who don't know chinese,stick with it it gets easier. HW+Quiz every week tho

Mandarin is not an easy language to teach, especially to English speakers, but Ralph makes it interesting and exciting. I really liked how he explained the origins and backgrounds to the Chinese characters we studied. He is very knowledgeable in general, but especially regarding Chinese history and culture. I strongly recommend this class to anyone

trust me, hes easy A but.. if u do ur hwk n actually read his "textbook" then ull b fine.. i hate his style of teaching, i needed to get used to it at first but after a while, if u just no how to study from the other notes then ull b fine. i like labs more haha um.. tests are easy.. as long as u kno the characters, if u dont ur screweddd.

nice guy but not a good mandarin teacher. Douglas really needs to find someone who is a native speaker. Although Ralph is fluent in Mandarin, he's still got a thick white boy accent so he teaches his students the wrong way of saying things. I would recomment taking his class if you want to raise your GPA, but not if you want to learn the language

This guy thought I was a native chinese speaker trying to get an easy mark. I was adopted by white parents in Canada for god sakes and he prefers to help white people more. I told him this and he did not believe me. Totally biased.
