Comment:
His lecture is useless and seldom reply email. It is CMPT225 but 50% of the content I felt like CMPT125. It is better to just reading the book and study at home. His quizzes are very boring (one question testing induction proof) and lack of marking standard. The average of quiz is about 60%. Just go for another professor...

I attended all his lectures and I'm still not sure what he's doing in any of those. It's like he's never used a computer before. He took the slides from someone else but didn't take the coloured version and then just read them. Assignments don't help you understand the course at all but very easy. Quizzes and Exams are extremely long.

Worthless lectures. Read the slides and textbook. The assignments are a free 100%, and basically pads up the class average. I suppose the quizzes and final were fair enough. The content itself could be interesting, but the instructor is just not good at introducing and explaining any of these concepts.

Quizzes are simple. TAs were not hard markers. Answered a question completely wrong and still got 60% on it. Lectures and quiz questions sometimes do not make sense (Ramesh is not native English speaker). Lights are turned off during lectures. Final exam was difficult. Avoid if you want to learn, take if you want an easy A.

lectures are slow. given HW which wont be marked from textbook, and saying the quiz will be different. does not give any sample quiz. youtube and the textbook have taught me more then this prof. additionally, he makes data structures boring.

He was a nice guy, but he just can't teach. Spends class time just reading over lectures and didn't care if I fell behind. He should at least gave more practice problems in class.

VERY boring lecturer but VERY fair exams. He is not a good presenter to say the least, but he is a genuinely nice guy if you actually seek for help outside of class. Just do all your homework and you'll be good.

I am a fourth year cmpt student. Still cannnot understand what he is talking about during the class. He explains the algorithm with very theoretical way, not even one specific number. If you are not good at this, avoid this professor. Very boring lecture, I think only 10 out of 50 people interested in what he is talking about.

Very good professor, explained material well, even though it was at times difficult. I learned a lot in the course under him. He simplifies some proofs in the textbook so attending lectures is essential. He is somewhat soft-spoken, so I suggest sitting near the front. Exams were somewhat difficult and consisted of 2-5 questions, but they were fair.

Very boring algorithm class. He didn't bother even talking a little bit louder so that the second row students could have hear him. Very unfair exam and horrible final grades.

I don't know why dist ed kids found it hard. The lecture section was super easy. Labs were a joke, Projects were doable, MT was mostly theory (no cheatsheet), final exam had easy programs + substantial theory (even though 2pg cheatsheet allowed). Final grades are curved. Easy A+ for me though.

I am a fourth year, 3.8 GPA student. I took this class DE by the recommendation of my advisor. I failed the class, the final, and the midterm. The midterm is held after the drop deadline, there is no additional help from the Prof or TA's. If you're not already familiar with computer programing.. stay far away from this class.

I honestly can't say for sure that he was my prof, because he did not make one contact with me during my semester as a DE student. I have never received anything lower than a B+ in my three years at SFU. In this class I failed the midterm WITH A CHEAT SHEET. The TAs are given no structure by the prof, he does not communicate, and exams are too hard

Boring lectures (you can skip everyday and still understand cuz he posts notes) , very easy (like 10minutes per week) labs and assignments. (This coming from someone who've taken CMPT 120/125 before) Midterm is fair, and covers a little of each topic. Overall, take the course because it's a GPA booster, not because the prof is a great guy and all.
