This man prepares engineers to go out to industry or grad school to kick ass. Be prepared to put a lot of hours into homeworks and labs every week. Try to utilize his office hours. He is always available and willing to help, and if he sees you're putting in effort he'll give you a good grade. This class isn't easy so treat it as such.

Refuses to put class on canvas. Can't check my grades in this class because of is. He confuses himself when he sees his own slides. Whole first 2 weeks lectures were about history and not at all used on homeworks. The book is the only thing doing the teaching.

Great professor, very enthusiastic. Homeworks are long and difficult, but you learn a lot. Exams are straightforward and graded fairly.

One of the best professors in the Electrical Engineering department. The labs and homework are very time consuming, but if you put in the time and effort this class is worthwhile! I would take any class that Professor Geiger teaches!

Get ready to put at least 8 hours a week for this class. Its a lot of work and some of it isn't easy. Worthwhile class for students going into VLSI. Geiger is very smart and can help, but be ready to know your stuff and don't expect to be spoonfed answers. Tough class and somehow managed to get an A, just stay above average on tests. Labs are long.

a lot of negative reviews for dr geiger, but in my opinion he's actually one of the better professors here. yes, he assigns the most homework and his tests are difficult, but he posts old exams and offers review sessions. his lectures are very clear about what is important and although i'd dread it, i would definitely take another class from him

WORST Professor I ever took a class with. I would advise you to delay a semester rather than taking a class with him. He doesn't careeeeeeee. I don't know why he's doing that. doesn't read these rating? Why? why? Why?

This is the first time I put some time in a course and I fail. In my opinion this prof gave us a hard time and he the avg was low and he didn't curve. Try to avoid this prof as much as possible

Geiger is a difficult prof: labs and homeworks are incredibly long. Tests are poorly written and hard to finish. That being said, he does scale the grades as appropriate. Lectures contain useful information, but are sometimes hard to follow and apply to classwork. I heavily recommend checking out his office hours for help, he knows what he's doing.

Extremely difficult professor. First class I've ever failed. The class started with eighty people, but only thirty attempted the final. He did try to help us by eliminating our worst test score, but thats not much help when his tests are impossible. There's usually three questions per topic: one basic, one difficult, and one insane.

Geiger is a hard teacher, but he really cares about his students and wants them to understand the material. Multiple times he spent almost an hour with me in his office and explained concepts. He really knows his stuff. He takes attendance randomly and gives quizzes based on a students guess between 1 and 10

Arguably the worst professor I've ever had, teaching-wise. His HW assignments are way too advanced and confusing compared to what he discusses in lectures. Labs were a mess, not even the TA's really knew what was going on, and the labs regularly took 1-3 hours to complete beyond the 3 hour lab time. Helpful if you talk to him in person, though.

Wow. Geiger certainly is brilliant and knows EE inside and out. However, he's not a teacher. He teaches 200 level classes like they are post-grad. When the class average for an exam is repeatedly in the 30-40% range, something is terribly wrong.
