Comment:
Raymond kept hammering us with labs and unclear assignments. Assignments instructions are very vague. Marks wayyy too hard, doesn't provide the appropriate documentation inorder to complete the assignments. Expects people to be experts of Linux before entering the course. Don't take OPS535 with him you will save yourself lots of stress and sorrow.

Don't take him, if you do don't expect anything higher than a B- in the class. Thank God I dropped his class. He just constantly pounded us with labs, assignments and random quizzes that often had random questions which werent even related to what we learned in the labs. I highly disagree with taking this prof.

Unclear grading criteria, assignments don't state everything he wants, tests don't reflect exactly what we have been taught or have read in the text book, labs are very messy, nothing like Murray Saul's lab instructions. Raymond is a very nice person and knows his stuff, no doubt about it, however, he's just not a good prof.

He is a good person, but it doesn't mean he is a good teacher. He seemed he knew his stuff, but his explanation wasn't clear and the labs were always confusing as mud. I wanted to learn more about Linux after OPS335, but I got nothing from this class. I recommend you not to take his class.

Very helpful teacher. If you get stuck in a big lab class, he can be a bit of a pain to get a hold of for in-lab help but when you do get him he's willing to spend a lot of time with you. I've heard he stays in late if his help is really needed too. His lectures are pretty decent but the heart and soul of this course is the lab work.

Raymond Chan is one of the best teachers I've had in my life. He's down to Earth and very friendly/helpful. He's quite humorous as well. His courses are quite challenging, but you need to put in work.

Honest review, The teacher knows his stuff. But he is not good at explaining like Murray Saul and Ryan lockhart. However, he will be more than happy to help you have any questions, he is an easy marker and if you show interest in his class, he might accept your work late too. So a Good teacher if you are a self learner or not shy to ask

Good teacher, does not explain things in great detail if nobody asks so don't be afraid to ask questions. The lab work in this class is very time consuming and if your hard drive crashes, have fun staying late every day for at least a few days to catch up. Quizzes are easy if you know the content of the labs.

Had him for introduction to Windows. Teacher should be a linux professor however. Easy to talk to, those unfamiliar with accents may have trouble understanding speech. All-in-all, good course, nice guy, easy to deal with. Tests and assignments are simple... questions can be worded ambigiously sometimes. Sometimes gives too many examples.

expect email, snail mail, disk copy, carbon copy, and a copy signed in blood, for all labs and assignments. Makes course so easy and then hammers you on the exam with pointless knowledge you will never need to know. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!
