Comment:

I took Abnormal Psychology with Dr. Butman on Tuesday nights, and it was easily my favorite class I have ever taken. For those who want to go into the field of psychology (or really anyone), this class is life changing. Dr. Butman exudes wisdom and truly wants each of his students to succeed and understand the material. TAKE THIS CLASS PLEASE

Taking Abnormal Psychology and Psychology of Religion with Dr. Butman were two of the best Psych classes I've taken at Wheaton! He is a wonderful professor - he has deep empathy and much wisdom.

Dr. Butman's class is not your typical lecture-based course. He is FULL of wisdom and does integration SEAMLESSLY. It might seem like his class isn't as organized, but you will learn things in his psychopathology class that you would not normally get in a classroom setting. Enter the class open-minded and willing to engage and it'll be amazing.

Comment:

Moody, mumbles in class, not clear on assignments or expectations, class and textbook hardly come together. He does give a detailed study guide for each test, and the test will only have questions from that guide, however this is the only helpful/good thing about this class.

Comment:

At first I thought the world of Dr. Butman--he seemed so passionate and genuine. Then, when I met with him in his office a few times, he seemed very condescending and didn't really seem to hear what I was saying. It was an EXCELLENT class, though...I just don't recommend meeting with him individually.

He is not fair to female students!!!! Really jumps to conclusions without hearing the full story and consistently takes the male side over the female side.
