Traditional lecturer - does not use powerpoint, just stand at the front and talks and make you hand write notes. also will call on you in class whether you raise your hand or not

He is a nice guy, but a horrible professor. When you ask for help he simply smiles and laughs. He's one of those teachers that says "weren't you listening?" when you ask for clarification. His lectures are him reading the textbook (literally) and his tests are hard to study because he gives you no key points.

He's an awesome guy but the lectures are very boring and you will find that you are having to convince yourself to go to class every day. He doesn't post slides or use MyLS, so you are constantly writing notes from what he is talking about. Tests are not graded very tough as long as you go to class, but make sure you go to his office hours for help

Dr. Richard Christy was one of the best professors I had at Laurier. He is very clear in his assignments and his exams! You must attend class and do the required readings to get a good mark, but his lectures are very interesting. This professor is engaging and really cares about his students. He was always willing to take time to help his students.

Great teacher and mentor for me. Richard took a personal interest in his senior sociology students and was willing to spend much time discussing their aspirations and goals. A great role model.

This Prof was one of my favourites in my 4.5 years at laurier! You can tell he loves what he does and really engages students in his lectures. He tends to pick on people in the crowd for answers, but even if you just simply say you aren't sure he doesn't mind! We had 4 or 5 assignments, and all were very easy to do and different than just essays!

great professor, I regret not taking his education class this year. really helps his students, and wants to know everyone on a more personal level, than just his students. his tests are all the same, and if you go to class you dont really have to do any readings. go to him for help on the essay and after tests so you know how to do better!!

Honestly, Dr. Richard Christy is the BEST professor in WLU. He is an AMAZING public speaker! He loves what he does and he is great at keeping the class engaged. He really wants you to do well and will do everything he can to help. His classes are extremely easy as long as you attend his lectures, which are very interesting! Highly Recommended!

Dr. Christy really engages in the course material using helpful illustrations that make learning interesting and memorable. I also appreciate that he cares for his students. I was having a hard time, and one day he blew off an appointment and talked to me about my goals. I think he knew I really needed to talk, and I will never forget his help.

Incredible class discussions. Dr. Christy takes the time/energy to learn about the students and pull them into class discussion. He's helpful and easy to contact. Do not take his class if you plan on doing nothing. If you want to learn and are willing to do the readings, essays, and discussions, he is the perfect person to facilitate that.

Best professor I have had. He is challenging and has high expectations, but is eager to help students. Readings are required but heavily discussed and analyzed. His marks are based on discussions and general understanding rather than rote memorization. This is what a university education should be!

Not a very good proffesor. He does not provide any notes at all instead he just endlessly talks and watches while everyone scrambles to write down what he is saying. This form of notes leave you with little legiable notes to study off of and both his midterms and exams have two to three essays on them and neither are tae home. I will avoid him!

Such a boring class. The material is dry to begin with and with him rambling on in his monotone voice it makes you so sleepy. He takes phone numbers and likes to single people out by asking them questions especially if he notices you don't like being singled out. You need to really suck up in order to make a good mark and MUST be in every class!

Took SY315 and SY409 w/ him.Dr. Christie is one of the those prof's where you have to be on his good side-suck up to him. Otherwise he will make your life hell.He collects phone numbers the first day of class and if you dont turn up to even 1 class he will call you if he notices. He also makes you pay to not have class for watercan and keeps record

Worst class of my life. It really made me doubt continuing in sociology. He marks in an incredibly biased fashion by who he remembers well and how well he remembers liking the student.

I think he brings out what university is supposed to be about. He challenges his students to really be aware of everything going on around them and to actively participate in the class. doesn't always go over well with folks who just sit like sponges to get a mark. If you want an A you need to open your mouth. You don't need to be right just THINK
