Comment:
Prof. Moog is by far the best chem prof I had at F&M. The lecture structure is very different from most other chem classes; it's centered around active problem-solving in class (often in groups) rather than passive note-taking, which is a great and useful way to learn chemistry. He challenges you, but gives you the tools to do well.

Comment:
I was not a fan of this class, the material is tough and he is very tough. He cannot explain concepts well and going to office hours shows that you care but it doesn't really help even around test time. The tests seem like a gamble, either you studied the right material or you didn't because there is SO much material that is covered each test.

Moog may be my favorite chem professor yet. Very clear and helpful in explaining concepts. Laidback guy who cares about his students' success and isn't pretentious. As in CHM321, class notes in CHM322 are the focal point of exams and textbooks are secondary, if not useless altogether.

Moog makes the subject matter easy to understand with his course, but this should not be mistaken for simplicity. The subject matter is still just as difficult, as are the exams, but it is just easier to do well because of his instruction.

I had him for CHM 111 and he was absolutely great. His method of teaching was quite unorthodox. He promoted group work and encouraged to solve answers through logic and teamwork. He didn't directly answer your questions. It was odd at first, but after a week or so, you get used to it. He's always available to talk, and he's very outgoing and funny

This is the second time I've taken CHM112, and this is the first time I've fully understood everything. Group work makes EVERYTHING easier to understand. He won't answer questions directly, which is irritating/ no answers to class activities. However, he is more than willing to discuss things until you understand. Overall, really nice and funny.

Great prof. Very helpful & fair, and makes the class entertaining. Don't worry about the group learning. I had lecture-style class for CHM111, so I was worried about the transition. Between the two styles, group learning was MUCH better, in my opinion. Great prof, great system, just be warned that the tests are kind of hard, but not unfair.

He is very helpful and genuinely wants his students to do well. Very easy going. You can't miss classes though because there is a quiz every class. His exams are okay, but you really have to understand the concepts there is no multiple choice and you can't bs the essays.

difficult to get used to, but once you do the experience isn't bad. prof moog's tests can be really frustrating though the last ten points of the test is an application (and really really hard) so it's something you won't have learned and only one or two people in the class can get it. he's a really nice guy though, its hard to hate him.

Very helpful. Group learning is way better than sitting through a lecture. Can be hard to understand at times, is a pretty fair grader, but is extremely picky. If you hate chem and need it for pre-med or w/e, take him though, he's better than most professors in the chem dept.

Group work makes the class easier. Moog is a pretty chill guy, not to difficult. The class isnt bad if you pay attention and stay on top of your work. Labs are pretty annoying though.
