VERY good prof. Never seen a Canadian who knows SO MUCH stuff about Russia. He knows practically everything, no question that he cant answer. His essay topics are straught forward, gives lots of readings, but not boring ones; very interested in what he teaches. Pope RULES!!!

Pope is a very approchable, nice and understanding man. He knows his stuff extremely well. His lectures jump all over the place and it feels like he expects you to know what he is talking about. Easy marker but loads of reading. All in all, good class, exceptional man.

Really quite intelligent. He requires only that his students read the book and think. If you don't agree with him, he takes a bit of a know-it-all approach, but then backs it up with a slew of information. Warning: The Pope may temporarily convert you to Christianity or Russian Nationalism.

Two thumbs Up!!! Profs like Pope have to get paid much more than many other idiotic profs at our University. He knows everything what he is talking about, and I mean EVERYTHING. Will tell you about Russia much more that you ever will find out from anyone else. York should hire more people like him.

I didn't like him that much. He is not a good lecturer (boring and sometimes annoing). At times he seemed to talk down to Russia and its history. His jokes suck, I thought they were at a level that was much lower than that of a univ student.
