This class was amazing for transitioning into college. It teaches you how to be a leader and having fun doing it. There are a lot of team activities and guest speakers, so this class will never get boring.

Comment:

Classes are mostly interesting, I just personally believe hes full of himself. If you raise your hand to answer a question, hell try his best to make it seem like youre wrong or misguided. To give you an idea of what kind of guy he is, he puts his own face on his syllabus. Id drop this class if I could, even though Im doing well.

I don't know what some of the comments on here are talking about. Prof. Powell is by far one of the best prof. on campus. If you go to class, do the reading, and study the practice problems given there is no way you get less than a B. He is neutral with his political views and leads interesting discussions. I would absolutely recommend.

Prof. Powell is extremely helpful, knowledgable, and flexible. On multiple occasions he has changed a grade if I thought I got gipped and will give really good feedback on your writing.

Amazing professor, easily one of the most caring people at the University, he is always willing to help and is as fair as they come as a professor, you learn so much in his classes. Great Leader would recommend 100%, take anything you can with him!

Professor Powell has been one of my favorite professors throughout my first year at UMaine. He's a great lecturer and is clearly has a passion for what he does. Very approachable and down to Earth guy. I wouldn't hesitate to take another class with him.

He is a really interesting lecturer. You can tell he is interested and knowledgeable about politics. DO THE STUDY GUIDES. They may seem long, but his test questions are VERY similar to the ones on the study guides.

The prompts that e gives for this class are not well written. Yes its fun to watch movies, but the discussion after is a killer. It goes slowly and his questions are too broad to respond to. He never juts lets us talk about interesting details in the films, it always has to be symbolic. Please let students run the discussion.

Professor Powell is an awesome teacher. He was always unbiased. If I had to take another political science course I would want to take it with him. The weekly homework is harder than the tests. Make sure to write down the current events he mentions in class. Study the key points in the book and your notes and you will be fine!

I regret relying on these write ups for selecting Prof Powell. He is highly knowledgable, but the course states the obvious and still manages tough tests grades that the class will guaranteed tank. 10% of the class that sits in the front of the class supply 99% of opinions and class discussions, I didn't take the class to hear amatuer opinion

Came on here just to write a review for Professor Powell. He is the best professor at UMaine! Literally went searching for other classes to take with him when mine was over. He is interesting and highly intelligent, not to mention funny, and he makes class well worth attending. Definitely recommend him!

He is a really nice and friendly person. However, the work load is very large so make sure that your prepared for it. A lot of reading assignments as well. Probably wouldn't be too bad if you don't take a lot of credits. Overall a decent professor

A difficult class, but Powell is an absolutely amazing professor. His lectures are interesting, he interacts with students, and the material is extremely interesting.
