This was a difficult class. You only have a few grades based on lots of reading. However, as long as you complete the reading and put effort and time into the papers and discussions, you will receive a fair grade.

This class was terrible. Teachers use no notes, don't use the book and the only A's are those who write more than 3 pages for each essay. This was a one hour class, thats not possible. Never returned emails, don't like to see you after class. Read several class books. You don't need them. Just don't take this class unless your legs will be cut off.

Boyd and Becker taught my humanities class. The class was really interesting, and these two made it fun, but it is really hard having two teachers. They got off topic, joked around, and even argued about material in class they were trying to teach us. There are only 3 tests and 2 paper grades. The tests are really hard, so study your notes ALOT!

Took english111 online. Easy class but hard grader. Grades paper on the subject rather than mechanics. Won't give you the grade you deserve if he has a different view on a topic. Only had to write four papers and nothing else.

I found Professor Becker to be very interesting. I was fairly engaged most of the time that he spoke during class. Although he is somewhat of a hard grader when it comes to essays, I feel that he is fair and balanced. All of you must understand...this IS college.

It was a very interesting class, but lacked some organization. He would often start topics not yet discussed by Boyd. I really love art and literature so I truly enjoyed it. A little more work than I thought though. The test style was unusual and you have to read two major books and write two major papers.

He grades very hard, and expects excellent work, you have to put a lot of effort into your papers if you want an A. He rarely communicates with the class and seems to ignore attempts to communicate with him via email or other means. I expect he wouldn't be bad in a classroom setting but don't take this course online.

He definitely grades on subject rather than quality of paper. Just don't do any type of political papers, at least if you have different views than Mr. Becker, it will cost you.

I took this class via internet. I am a good writer and wrote A papers for this class, but since the assignments called for us to voice an opinion on various subjects, I soon found out that my worldview is very different from Mr. Becker's. His critique of my papers had more to do with opinion rather than style or mechanics.

His lectures are interesting and he uses good examples. However, all he does is lecture so you have to take really good notes b/c there are not handouts or pwr points. He is a VERY hard grader

He is a very good teacher who clarifies complex philosophical concepts by applying them to everyday examples. Very interactive in-class lectures. He IS a hard teacher, with high expectations of student comprehension of the material presented in class as well as concise reactions in written assignments. He's hard but I really enjoy the class!

Grades very hard on written assignments. Takes forever to return your assignment back to you. I think he communicated 3x to our online class this whole semester. Sounds pompous and arrogant when he does communicate. I'd leave harsher comments, but he didn't give me enough material to comment on. GRADE IS F+.
