My favorite professor at OU. Honestly have no idea what the other reviews are talking about. Rita is gracious and caring, and listens to her students thoroughly. Ive only had her for upper level English courses, but she is incredible and the classes are easy A's. Was so excited to write me a recommendation letter. She is adorable and I love her.

Comment:

Professor Keresztesi is the worst professor I've had thus far. The discussions were centered around her thoughts and opinions. Even if you had textual evidence, if what you said wasn't what she thought you were wrong. The reading was not diverse in the slightest and there was virtually no instruction on writing. Do not take this class with her.

Lots of reading and she really is bad at class discussion BUT we only had three grades, a take home midterm paper 40%, a final research paper 50% and attendence 20%. The only problem is that class feels pointless near the end and its hard to make yourself go. The readings are pretty interesting though.

VERY good reading list, provocative, challenging! Great for the mind! Open to new ideas-cares enough to find ways to make hard concepts understandable. Lets you find your own stuff to research and gives lots of support. Talk to her, she wants to help, cares, and will listen.

Assigns a pretty heavy reading load, even for a graduate-level class. Generous with comments on the weekly required response papers. In-class discussion was often torturous. Expects students to read her mind. Expects discussion to be centered on her knowledge, questions, and agenda, which is not how a graduate seminar generally works.

She a smart woman and interesting, but the class isn't structured well and is really boring. Also, there is only one assignment (which is a paper over whatever you want) and so the reading isn't necessary and neither is class attendance. She has the students teach every class period and it is incredibly monotonous. I haven't learned anything!!

Thought I would enjoy this class but ended up despising it. This professor doesn't stay focused and doesn't prepare adequately for class lectures. Another egocentric English prof. And doesn't get a chili pepper in my book.

She tells you exactly what she wants, but there is lots to read. She leads discussion, but allows students to input their opinions. She is open minded and willing to listen to any educated opinion. Great class--just do the work!
