Very, very enthusiastic. You almost feel like he is the host of a concert and you are in the audience. The class is so popular and usually big enough to also feel this way. Do not buy the textbook, which is repetitive of what he says in lecture. He plays lots of excellent music, examples every class. You will get excited about music.

He is honestly one of the greatest teachers at York! His lectures are very entertaining but you have to come to class to get a good mark. It's a lot to remember when studying but worth it! I bought the textbook, but didn't use it. His tests are based on his lectures. All in all, it was a great class & I'm glad I took it.

ROB IS THE BEST!! I absolutely loved attending his classes - the things that come out of his mouth are sometimes absurd but so entertaining. You have to attend the lectures and take detailed notes if you want to get an A because exams are based entirely on lectures. Thanks for making my last year of school so enjoyable Rob! Keep up the amazing work

Wonderful Prof. You can tell he loves his work. Warm/friendly, entertaining. Exams are 95% lecture-based, so you MUST go. Marks are 100% from the exam, and it's not essay format(I hate essays). It's Short / Long Answer questions he gives you beforehand. Grammar doesn't count, so it's just blabbing everything in your brain onto the paper. I love it.

What's better than a class where you get to listen to and learn about awesome music? Especially when that class is taught by the greatest professor at York? Bowman is gold. He actually makes it fun to learn, and his 3 hour lectures somehow seem to fly by. There is a lot of information to remember for exams, but it is so worth it! Best class ever!!

Prof knows exactly what he's talking about, he has a grammy for crying out loud. Really fun enthusiastic prof who is very approachable. The class however isn't a bird; you'll need thorough notes to pass because the class is solely based on 3 exams with 3 essays each.

Thought this was going to be an easy course but it wasn't. He was entertaining but his tests were hard. I hate essays and all the tests and exams are essay based, 4-5 essays each time.

Bowman is an extremely entertaining lecturer. His classes are large.Accordingly don't expect a lot of class discussion. His tests are highly based on class time and understanding of handouts posted online and are a bit rote-based for my taste.Overall, he is a great prof, helpful and worth my time, although he talks rather fast.Fun guy for a year.

THE GREATEST EVER. there is nothing wrong with this man except hes too awesome. rob comes in class every lecture with a bottle of coke and will have 10x more energy than you. hes like jack black in school of rock with a phd. nonetheless this course aint free. your gonna have to go to every lecture and take good notes and prepare well for his tests.

I loved his lectures! He's fun, engaging, very energetic, and definitely knows a lot about music. His passion for music and for wanting the students to learn and succeed is wonderful. His style perfectly complemented Vander Woude's, so the two were a perfect match to be doing the class.
