Comment:

Doesn't put much effort into his lectures. No slideshows, just a Word document that he scrolls through with minimal information. No textbook so you can only rely on the Word document and what he says in class. That is what makes the class difficult, you have no resources. Tests are all short answer. Only offers help when asked.

Comment:

Fun guy (yes, he did make the fungi joke, it's bio), knows his stuff, a fair grader. Takes exam questions from the book, so do the readings. Offers extra credit in the form of pop culture references (know your 21 Pilots lyrics). Very personable and tells great stories. Very fun labs, as well.

He knows his stuff and you will learn a lot. The class structure is mostly lecture with a lot of notes, so it's best not to miss class. Keep up on studying and pay attention to details. Labs are referenced in exams also. He is respectful to students and responsive to questions.

Tests are all based on lecture notes. Brutally difficult tests. You can study all you want you may still do bad on the exam. Don't waste time making note cards. Exams are confusing and strangely formatted.

Really tough tests. He'll tell you for sure that something will be on the exam and then it won't be. Overall pretty easy class though, the easiest lab you can take for a gen ed. Field trips every week for the lab time.

Notes structures made me confused by the time I was studying. Exams were HARD although lectures made it seem like it was going to be easy. I got by because I studied the lectures but I probably should have read the book.

His style is: lectures, couple papers, and a fieldtrip. To pass, simply read the chapter, ignore the slides until later (he gives them to you), and LISTEN to him. If he writes something on the board, copy it! I don't understand how people can fail his class. Simply write down nearly everything he says and that's the test along w/slides and reading.
