Prof. Bass is funny, engaging and has clever anagrams and memory tricks to teach about the US govt. Has 3 tests the entire semester and the final is 3 take home essays that he gave to us 2 weeks before the final date. Don't really need to buy the book, but does reference specific passages in it. Attendance not mandatory, but each lecture connects.

Rude, condescending, close-minded, and extremely liberal. Openly criticizes those that belief in supernatural. Tries to push his vegan perspective on you by showing slaugterhouses. Only class I ever dropped.

Easy class, boring teacher, mundane topics of discussion(are we brains in a vat?, robots, aliens), easy papers. Make sure you cite on all papers, including take-home quizzes(I almost failed the course because I didn't cite on a quiz, even though he said we didn't need to). The philosophy slams help out for those who need extra credit.

MEAT EATERS BEWARE: he spent an entire month talking about animal rights and veganism. He makes you feel like a schmuck if you dont agree. He'll never tell you you're right, even if you point out an exact quote in the book. He's a nice guy and its an easy A, but if you want a more interesting class, take another teacher.

I hated this class!! I could hardly stay awake, it was so boring. The only reason to stay awake is that he calls randomly on people. He was over the top on the vegetarian issue. I thought teachers were supposed to leave their personal views at home, not make you write a paper on them. Try to take another teacher if you can!

Although his lecture were slightly boring, if you just listen, then you will learn a lot. He is a bit headstrong on his opinions about veganism and God, but that's his right. As long as you speak up in class it shouldn't be too harde to get an A.

The class itself was very bad. If you believed in God, ate meat, or disagreed with him in any way, you would be called on everyday. His lectures were boring, but the debating was cool. Lives and breathes philosophy. As a person he is a bit high-strung and Logos-heavy, with sculpted opinions that (1) convince him he's right and (2) make winning arguments hard (read: Veganism). But he is a pro and will reward even the most rebellious students if their thought is good. Read his papers on the Net to get the flavor of his style.
