Bio 152 is no longer taught so, no comments. Rob Merritt is a professor who knows his stuff very well but cannot teach communicate it to a first year student. Need to go to office hours and put in a lot of work.

Merritt doesn't deserves all the negative views. His love for genetics is real and if you pay attention and are not afraid to ask questions, the material is not hard to master. The course requires work; it's not an easy A. Merritt had to rush through a topic which ended up hurting my grade, but I learned a ton of genetics. Also, he's adorable.

Prof. Merritt is a super sweet guy and obviously knows his stuff, but his lectures were so hard to follow and he explained things in confusing ways. He wasn't that helpful in office hours and he wasn't even there half the time. I 've never liked genetics and this class made me hate it even more. If you take this class, take it with someone else.

I'm a Bio major, and his intro class was the hardest, most confusing Bio class I've taken. He may know his stuff, but the guy can't teach. My favorite day was when he brought his cat to class. (If you take this course, try to get Laurie Saunders for your lab instructor--she really helps fill in gaps). I have no idea why he's the department head.

While Merritt is a super sweet guy, bio 152 with him was a nightmare. He lectures were extremely hard to follow, and nothing ever seemed to be organized. He also was not helpful in office hours, as he said everything in a roundabout manner. I was excited for this class, but now I hate genetics.

He is an amazing teacher and a very nice person. He is always willing to help and gives very good advice. Even if you are not great at genetics, or find it the most boring topic on earth, he will bring it down to your level and work with you until you understand it. He rocks!!
