Dr. Bookmiller is a cool professor and he'll engage with you if you engage with the course. Can be a little tough to keep up with the readings would not recommend the course if not interested in the subject material.

He knows his stuff. There is a TON of reading. Textbook, D2L readings and current events. His lectures rock. He is very helpful. Only 4 grades, 30% each on final, project and midterm. The last 10% is participation. He likes students who talk and ask questions. Overall a lot of work and you have a lot to remember for the exams, but very fun!

Professor Bookmiller definitely is passionate about the subject he's teaching. But he gives you very few chances to increase your grade. If you don't do the readings you're basically doomed to fail. There was only a mid term, 2 papers, and a final. If you do bad on one, you're jeapordizing your grade. Lots of reading, lot s of lecture.

Dr bookmiller is a good professor. Sometimes he rambles but hes pretty good. Tests are a little hard but if you pay attention, take good notes, and read youll be fine.

Very good professor, as long as you do the work you will do fine in the course. He is available for help outside of the class. The course was discussion heavy. I personally didn't like speaking because several people in the class were judgment. But overall really good course would recommend.

He is a very nice teacher but he does not organize his material well in his comparative political systems class. You have D2l readings along with chapters in the book and in class notes to take into account for tests. There are 3 tests, thats it. I would not recommend to take this class if you do not have to. Studying is VERY hard to organized.

Dr. Bookmiller is very nice! His lectures can get boring if you aren't interested. His tests are pretty hard even though he doesn't try to trick you - the material can get kind of confusing but if you go to his office he will help you prep for the test. The tests are all that determines your grade so you have to study. Would definitely recommend.

Dr. Bookmiller is a nice professor. For the Comparative Political Systems class I did not buy the New York Times; and I do not encourage you to buy it. Other than that make sure you study for the tests and pay attention in class. Some of his lectures are pretty interesting.

Lots of reading. Only three or four tests given (they determine your grade). He did give several opportunities for extra credit. He is friendly and knowledgeable. He wants his students to learn in depth, not just regurgitate facts.

Second course I took with Robert Bookmiller and this one is slightly better than his course on Middle East politics. However, he is still tough. There are only three exams and that's it as far as grades with the exception of 1 or 2 extra credit opps. Test are 40 mult. choice questions and a 750 word take home essay. It's unfortunate this is req

He knows a lot about his subject matter, and is always willing to talk after class about issues or for clarity. He tries to make current issues prevalent in lectures. He can make you want to sleep, but as long as you write the powerpoint down, you'll be fine. He's a professor that wants every one to get an A.

Decent instructor in a VERY hard course. You will read material from D2L until your eyes bleed. Textbook useless. Exams are essay ONLY and INSANE. He is nice though and encourages you to come to his office hours if needed. I wouldn't recommend if not interested in this area of politics or not good at essays.

Didn't use the textbook. Don't buy the new york times newspaper. Its not needed, google international news instead, way cheaper. Very friendly, although the material taught is boring. Grades are the three exams and three exam essays. Sends around a paper some days to sign in on. Copy notes off of slideshows and study them; you should be fine.

Bookmiller is the only man I've met who could rattle off 50 facts about any country in the world without having to think about it. Extremely smart man, but unfortunately this class does get quite boring. All he does is lecture, so after 30 minutes you're ready to fall asleep most days. Grades are 20% essay, 80% multiple choice, and they aren't bad.

very good professor, he is very intelligent and willing to help if you're lost. he doesn't write anything on the board so i basically wrote down everything he said, and it was necessary. needless to say, it was a ton of notes per class. very little discussion, mostly just a lecture..could be boring at times, but you did learn

Dr. Bookmiller has a tremendous knowledge of international studies. His lectures were clearly explained. Beware! There is a lot of reading. Do NOT neglect the e-readings. I recommend forming a study group where you divvy out the e-readings and summarize them. Don't let everything for last minute, or you'll sink. The class is worth it! He's good!
