Comment:

This is a required class and also a bit difficult, but Dr. Gordon is amazing. He cuts through to the main ideas and explains why and how to do it. He goes over the homework and gives many examples and posts weekly PowerPoints to identify what's important. He is the best teacher I had in graduate school and perfect for this course.

Comment:

Now that the semester is complete, I can see how the professor designed the course, so that everything builds on the topics covered before. You learn both the theory and how to solve the problems with the software (easy to do, I was pleasantly surprised) and how to use it in real business situations. Very worthwhile.

Dr. Gordon is a Great professor. He explains the material extremely well, goes over problems, spends time to make sure you understand everything and how it is used. He grades fairly and always let's you know what is expected. He helps you whenever you need additional assistance. Basically, all you could ask in a professor.

Professor Gordon gives surprise background information to each week's topic and draws us into the discussion often involving current events such as companies misusing customer data or invasion of privacy . Class time goes quickly and the lectures are really AMAZING. Try to take his class or maybe sit in on it.

He has a great ability to pinpoint the major concepts and provide examples from his experience in industry. I am surprised at how much I am learning and also liking this course. I didn't expect to.

Professor Gordon makes a difficult subject clear and valuable. He always answers emails and provides great insight in class. He spends as much time as needed to answer questions. He is a great teacher!

Exams are NOT hard if you study. Midterm-let us to write 5 formulas & tested on basic fundamentals of the chapters. Final-four questions;once again tested on the basic fundamentals. People on here complaining did not pay attention during class. Trust me I sat in the back and saw them on Facebook etc. Pay attention+study and it will not be too hard

Tests were way too hard. He cancelled class twice during the semester. Gets mad if you ask questions. SPSS is very hard the way he teaches it.

The way he words his midterm could definitely confuse you even if you feel relatively confident. You really need to know the details to things to apply what you've learned. Hw every week, sometimes you are left to figure things out on your own, although he does go over it, but not in great detail. Overall, not a bad professor, but not the best.

Case reports, group project, midterm and final. If you don't read or discuss the assignments he will surprise you with an in class quiz. However, if you do the work, pay attention and study you will have an easy time. His knowledge of the subject is excellent, has a lot of industry experience and he teaches very well.

This course is the most interesting one I've taken at Hofstra and the professor is terrific. You feel like you are applying these ideas actually in business. Dr. Gordon tells meaningful cases from his working experience.
