Professor Hegel is truly an awesome professor. He has so much passion for Chinese Civilization, and the class is really interesting provided that you're excited to show up and listen during the lectures. He is realistic with work load/reading, and is very understanding if you need an extension on an assignment. You should definitely take his class!

Hegel gives terribly boring lectures, but attendance doesn't count towards your grade, so you don't technically have to go. The workload really isn't a lot, but your grade is almost entirely based on discussion posts and papers. Getting an A on the papers can be tricky though... beware of the TAs, who are tougher graders than Hegel himself.

An amazing professor! Kind, incredibly knowledgeable in his field (possesses not only breadth of knowledge, but a very nuanced depth that is rarely achieved by one outside the culture), and very much willing to help students. The best professor I've had in my 4 years at WU, truly inspiring.

He's a great teacher, but be careful of his TAs! When you're writing response papers, don't do outside research or bring in your own knowledge because they will invariably mark your grade down. The best strategy is to just write down what he says on his powerpoint slides. Besides that, I think his class is excellent!

Take Chinese Civ with Hegel. Incredibly nice guy, very passionate on the subject, very knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. Flexible on due dates and not a tough grader either. The final is incredibly easy and with a little work this class can be an easy A. Lectures aren't mandatory but I found I didn't want to miss the. Hegel is the man!

Professor Hegel is amazing! Chinese Civilization is not the most interesting topic to me, but Hegel was a great teacher who the fact that not all his students care as much as he does. He works around this by hoping you get as much out of his class as possible. The deadlines are not enforced for this reason - he wants you to learn the material, rath

Took this class awhile ago, but still remember it as one of the best I've taken here. He's very knowledgable about the subject, and makes class interesting. Also, assignments/grading are very reasonable.
